The dealer I am with has managed somehow to significantly undercut the DTD price, I was amazed. So much so it almost became a no brainer to order a new car!
Yes they are still doing various good incentive finance deals.
After a bit of deliberation I am going with black, saw one the other day and it looked good. The other colours don't really do anything for me.

Didn't have it for long, but no not really. Depends what you mean by expensive! Indie servicing is ok, I put rear disks/pads on it - think that was about 3/400ish. Tyres were expensive as I had 19s. Fuel was better than my Alfa at around 30mpg. Good car.
Remember to look at the invoices and think if it hasn't been done it will need doing. At 02 plate / 60k miles I'd want the car to be on its 2nd clutch as they go, disks to have been done in the last 20k, check condition of the rads at the front as they can go manky due to leaf ingress, the usual stuff.
And remember, spec spec spec!

Although Luke is pretty close to the mark considering extras
Makes this look pretty poor value then? http://www.pistonheads.com/SALes/1613977.htmBut if you look at the Mazda Used car locator they are all more expensive than that one. Hughes Mazda in Slough have a Stormy Blue RC on at 17990 - and that is an ex Mazda UK car with 10k on the clock. I don't fancy having an ex staff car.
Quick! Catch open, push button, windows drop an inch and down it goes. Only grip is the windows don't raise automatically afterwards.
Just done 100 miles in it along a nice set of roads and have some comparisons with my bilstein equipped mk1. It is razor sharp on turn in and you can position it on the road so precisely! Ride quality is vastly improved being far less harsh - it's more compliant over harsh bumps and holds it's line well. It squats a bit under acceleration and out of corners as a result though, no real bad thing as it's more suited to road use. Very composed.
Brakes are superb, lots of bite and easily modulated. Engine note is reminicenr of my mk1 which is all good! There's a decent induction roar when you get going as well. It's got pretty good poke although I wasn't pushing it too much today as it's only new!
Interior is superb with only a couple of gripes. Controls have a quality touch to them, Bluetooth works well, cruise control on the motorway, heated seats very comfy, nice brushed metal dotted about the place. Gripes - windscreen surround feels cheap as do the sun visors, and no auto up on drivers window! That's about it!
I saw a few non lowered ones at the dealership and they just don't look right. Eibachs essential upgrade.

Well the Mk1 is a very minimalist design isn't it. An all time classic. The 3.5 is more 'modern' as has been mentioned S2K-a-like to a certain extent. I'm sure the wheel arches go some way to the illusion that its a large car. Trust me when I say it feels very much the same as my old Mk1, with just a layer of refinement on top.
Life with the 5 still all good! Sooo great to be back in a convertible in this glorious weather
Have been researching iPhone/iPod options as the audiolink kit (which lets you control the iPod functionality from the steering wheel controls) is not yet compatible with BOSE equipped 3.5s. Sooo.. I've bought myself a Griffin Tuneflex Aux - Linky.
Was a bit sceptical prior to purchase but wanted an iPod solution and took a punt at 30 notes. The fit is not exactly OEM but it sits quite discreetly low down inbetween the gearstick and the climate control dial. I've got to say - the sound quality is bloody superb! I thought the Aux connection might be a bit mickey mouse but it is clear as a bell and goes louder than even I can put up with with no distortion even on bassy dance tunes - result! I'm going to get the tomtom app for the iPhone I think and have a complete solution.
I've just ticked over 1000 miles now and will be booking it in to WIM next week as they are only half an hour up the road. As I've got used to the car and have explored the handling a bit I think the geometry might not be 100% after Mazda did the lowering. So, having given it time to settle it's time to get it done.
No more mods on the horizon after that - amazingly!! Not much I can think of to do really apart from enjoy the thing!

Try the N Driver one first. Only a fiver, and it works well enough for me. Apparently it works better with the iPhone GPS than the TomTom - as TomTom want you to buy their £130 GPS mount thing.Gassing Station | Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
