Spend the money on getting huge hp and have fun driving as it is,
Looking at the state of that, huge hp would likey rip it apart... laugh

NAMCO are doing a body off resto of a C2 vette at the moment, and was interesting having a close up detailed look at a C2 chassis yesterday when at their party/open house. Was quite surprised at just how small a diameter the propshaft was!!

Oh, and that 4-dr Moggy Minor in the background had a small block in it laugh
Would be more interesting to show the birdcage, as a frame repair is quite straightforward.
Indeed. The body was up on the lift above, and its resto had not been started, well, it hadn't been painted, and I did have a good squint up inside but I'm not a Corvette expert to know what I'm really looking at. From what I've seen, you really need to separate the birdcage from the body to see what you are dealing with in terms of rusty birdcage.

IMHO its where the 'birdcage' bolts to the frame (just ahead of the door openings) that is the most critical area to inspect - its simple enough if the seller is happy removing 'kick' panels. Logic here being that if the mounting points are badly corroded fixing bolts could be terminally seized and associated corrosion corrosion affecting main chassis. Windscreen frame is upper part of 'birdcage' and frequently corroded but can be a fairly simple job to repair (if you call removing/replacing the 'screen a simple job..........

Up to C2 you can access every area without dismantling anything, C3s are hidden behind sill plates and stuff

Good looking is this:

Only surface rust but solid

My C2 was like swiss cheese around the A posts and windscreen areas...

You only need to remove alloy cill trim to remove kick panels - my '68 and how you really want to see things - just a light dusting of surface rust. The area doubles-up as enclosure for rear of silly little OEM speakers.

Seen some TVR frames, range from newly powder coated to dark brown...
My almost one and only Tuscan was perfect looking, but then we drove on the lift...
At that time it was a deal breaker, as the car was for sale for 11k

Gratuitous TA pic
Just to remind you of what a nice one looks like hehe

This all moved forward this morning, the owner is going to get it up in the air for me, so I can have a good Ol’ poke round underneath,
And also going to get it all registered!
Seemingly a result!
I’ll get over in the coming week, if a can sneak out of work,

Yes it’s looking brighter now,
Obviously still could all unravel ?
But hey ho, Been pricing the likely parts cost
Ummm it’s not going to be a cheap repair!!
But until I’ve a much better idea of what I’d have to do and more importantly just what I’d have to replace
Ive estimated on the very bad side,
Hopefully I should know one way or the other very soon,

One thing’s for sure I’ve got to be careful not to view with me rose tinted glasses etc,
Bucket list or not this is a major undertaking
And factor in the potential decline in interest in these type of cars , it’s difficult now to predict just how much things could change over the next few years,

But yes it’s definitely looking promising hehe

And please about your smoke disappeared
These old ladies have there funny little ways!
It’s all part of the charm
