...at American Car Imports. Tony looked after myself and my friends smile

Okay, long story short:

American Car Imports in London have imported two Camaros. A yellow 2SS RS with a sunroof and an auto box:

And a Silver LT RS (also an auto but without the roof):

I was on my way home from an American car show (AACI) and risked seeing if they were there - and, WOW. These could well be the first Camaros on British soil and I'm SO happy I've been able to see them so early on.

Hopefully Tony is getting a manual car for me to test, and we may (and I say *may*) go a bit further - but for now it's still a ways off for me.

What I liked:

The interior, fit and finish was superb. A1 - far better than I'd have hoped.
The exhaust note, even on the V6, was very nice. A bit quiet but that is easily remedied.
The car in person is far prettier than even pictures can address

What I didn't like:

It's a bit big. Okay, it's ruddy HUGE. Still, if it fits in the garage I'll entertain it wink
No rear parking sensors - and a crappy rear view. Might not be a big deal as they can be retro-fitted later on but up-front, it's a pain (maybe some sort of camera can be fitted...)

But ignoring that, I loved it. Plenty needed to get these on the road yet (the rear lights could be interesting) but I can't wait to see and try it for myself.

Stunning looking cars and I can't wait to see one in the metal. Amazing how it manages to make even the 20" wheels looks pretty small eek

I may do - I'll have to wait until I can drive one and see how it goes - plus the cost might put me off (mid-£40k I think for the SS).

Yeah, 21s don't exactly look huge either - would love one with the concept setup (21/22 staggered)...

The low end V6 still gets 300 Hp and better mileage than a comparably priced and smaller Hyundai.

So you've been out playing in the US? I'm in two minds over it (the mirrors don't fold so it may not fit the garage) and may go down the Corvette route... still, at the moment I'm waiting as I want the HUD they're talking about (and rear parking sensors). 22s.. yes, that'd be on the plan as well (at least in the rear).

Indeed - and it also sounds very V8-like too. Still, it's lacking a couple hundred HP over what I want so I'll start with the V8 smile

It's an odd beast - the new Camaro. I thought it was stunning when it first appeared, but I'm quite luke-warm to it now?

Need to see one in the flesh to truly appraise it I guess.

A set of wheels make a whole lot of difference to a car. They should have stuck with the 22,s from the concept.

It's far better in person than in pictures - a bit like the Corvette really. It's a handsome thing but I know what you mean. The original 21/22s would finish it off I think.

Ah well, you see I already have a Monaro VXR so I'm used to the mid-400hp and noise wink

All things can be improved...but the base car is good

A set of 22" magnesium rims, electric suspension and electric exhaust and they look and sound sweet.

I am sure they are artificially high right now; however, the topped out SS model goes for between $35-42K....I believe.

I saw the new Challenger and Camaro at Billing yesterday. I wasn't sure what I thought looked best until seeing them at Billing.

The Challenger is definitely the better looking car. Whilst I agree, the the Camaro is probably the better car overall, there was just something about it I'm not sure of in the looks department.

The Camaro's rear end is definitely to high and boxy... those interesting rear lights are wasted on the too tall rear end.

Just got to see a 2010 Mustang in the skin now to make my mind up who is making the winner!

Cheers
