25 most iconic watches
Discussion
There's a list of the 25 most iconic watches on Stuff Magazine's website. Some controversial choices (2 Casios and no Breguet or VC), but not too bad.

Great Article but they seemed to have missed the standard SMP (not the odd looking pro diver version), of course the original red led digital watch (ie the first digital) & no sign of a seiko 5 anywhere..
I think its a good list, couple I might argue with but overall pretty decent. But when I see "SMP" I usually think Speedmaster Professional ... which is there ... do you mean something else?

I'd say there are two gigantic omissions.
The Pulsar LED watch.
The Seiko Astron.
Almost anywhere you go, the majority of people will tell time either by a digital watch or some kind of quartz. So in that, I'd say those two watches are more iconic than any high-end grand complication known only to a few connoisseurs.
On that note, I'd also go out on a limb and say that in future, one of the iconic timepieces will be the Nokia 5110/3210 series... one of the first widely popular mobiles, and therefore one of the earliest heralds of a significant number of people using a device other than a watch to keep time while out and about.

I don't know much, but I know that's a crap list. Can't quite work out what the their angle is though? as it's clearly not the subject title. It's a bit like one of those lists of the worlds greatest music, and it's all chart from the last two years.
I disagree. Certainly it wouldn't be my list but I think its not a bad attempt at all. And certainly not all "from the last 2 years", e.g the Submariner, the Reverso, the Speedy, the G Shock, the 50 Fathoms, etc ... I agree they tend to have used pictures of the recent models, but the text references when the watch was first introduced. When I looked at the thread title I thought "this'll be crap", but actually I was pleasantly surprised.
