30th Brithday Watch
Discussion
+ 1 on the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage but, for me, it's the one without the additional buttons and dials. Mesh strap on the Breitling is a must. Much more useful for all occasions. Also look at the new Tudor Pelagos (about £2850) and if it doesn't need to be very water resistant then have a look at the Dornbluth & Sohn range. Hand made and sublime looking. It'll take about a year to get to you though!
You have a good lump of money to play with there. About the same as I did five years ago when I bought the SuperOcean. To be honest, there are lots of high end watches out there that you could ditch £5k on but look at everything, not just those that are at the top end of your budget. I found the superOcean, got a 30% discount (my son was saturday staff there) and bagged it for less than one third of my budget. Without the discount it still would have been less than half. Beautiful watch, often commented upon by total strangers and left me enough to buy 'milady' a TAG studded with diamonds (a ste watch but she loves it!).
Enjoy the search and have a great birthday!

Thoughts on Cartier Roadster XL?
Beyond my budget but came across this beautiful IWC special edition:

You've the VAT and duty on top – for not much more, take a trip to Italy or have it delivered.
Also comes with both alligator leather and rubber strap.

I followed that link and saw a "Pavé" version and wondered why ANY Titanium watch would be $53K!
On closer examination, it became more understandable (both the price and what "Pavé" meant in this case!)

I'd be looking for a lightly used JLC Deep Sea Chrono:

What is the consensus on purchase timing?
My birthday is in the new year so......
Are there likely to be any 'January sale' discounts on high end watches?
Or
Do the manufacturers tend to implement annual increases?
Currently my top Panerai choice is the PAM00351:

If your budget stretches to £6k, my Panerai PAM190 is looking for a new home.
Have a read up about it, it's the best of the bunch with its 8 Day JLC movement and perfectly simple case and dial. And gold hands, naturally
Thanks for that although i prefer the chunkiness Luminor to the RadomirHave a read up about it, it's the best of the bunch with its 8 Day JLC movement and perfectly simple case and dial. And gold hands, naturally

I have a 44mm Luminor (312) and a 47mm Radiomir. The Radiomir, although nominally larger, wears better as a daily watch. It's a bit flatter on the wrist, and much lighter.Worth thinking about if you've been wearing a 34mm watch for a while.

In work today but heading to the lakes tomorrow for a long weekend, plan was to look for watches en route and look to PX my Rolex.
BUT my fantastic Fiance surprised me this morning with a gorgeous PAM00351!!
Not even tried it on yet but love it already!
Will get some pics over the coming days!
Im a very happy boy today!
