I'd rather wear a mechanical watch because I don't want to see emails from work whenever I glance at my watch.

No watch, no matter how smart, will ever take the place of my Rolexs & Omega. Period
I thought that until I got an AP, its very 'smart'

To be fair, I haven't seen an AP I'd wear in preference to a Rolex or Omega.

Could there be a flip side to the argument in that smart watches could help bring on more interest for mechanical watches?

I believe people will continue to buy well made/engineered watches for some time to come. My 15 year old son is more interested in my taking over my IWC Pilot, then any smart watch on the market..

I see 2 options,

1 you have 2 wrists, wear one on each.

Or some companies are releasing smart watch straps, id personally go with that option.

I dont wear a watch because it tells the time
What does yours do, out of interest?
As it has done since around about the point that the second watch was created, it serves to tell the people that matter that you are a gentleman of both means and taste.
correct dear sir.
I wear a picture of my holiday home on a chain around my neck. I bet we'd get on like a house on fire.
