Smart watches and the future of mechanical

I'd rather wear a mechanical watch because I don't want to see emails from work whenever I glance at my watch.

Could there be a flip side to the argument in that smart watches could help bring on more interest for mechanical watches?

I believe people will continue to buy well made/engineered watches for some time to come. My 15 year old son is more interested in my taking over my IWC Pilot, then any smart watch on the market..

I see 2 options,

1 you have 2 wrists, wear one on each.

Or some companies are releasing smart watch straps, id personally go with that option.

As it has done since around about the point that the second watch was created, it serves to tell the people that matter that you are a gentleman of both means and taste.
