Can we get a watches section in the classifieds?

Good idea.

The classifieds have seen their fair share of fake watches (sorry - reproductions). Surely this would just continue?

Why not bend the rules slightly and, rather than advertising here as such, why not post an 'is anybody looking for a submariner' thread?

Or does anybody want a P Reg Mondeo or a Mountain bike, we could have thousands of threads...

I assume it's ok to post wanted threads though?

Why would people be advertising cars in a watch forum? Why not allow people to advertise watches in this forum. Have a watches for sale sticky or something? If it gets out of hand then stop it.

It's never going to be a big forum. As said before, people sell cameras in the photography forum and remote control cars in the scale models forum, it's not out of hand just done in a less obvious way than L166whateverhe'scalled's FOR SALE sign.

Wanted and for sale threads should go in the classifieds. if there isnt a section then request one to be created. I imagine ebay would be better though.

What next lonely heart ads and 'business companion' threads

Are you taking the piss? You have a wanted thread running in the LeMans forum! 'WANTED HOUX TICKETS £CASH'. Talk about double standards.

...yep - I think Benno is a mod. Well, talk about absolute power corrupting absolutely / Animal Farm, and all that!

I do understand that these forums can't become a string of 'for sale' and 'wanted' ads, but a little bit of common sense and reasonableness would be welcome. Especially in a niche forum such as this one.

...so anyway, who wants (and would be prepared to pay for!) my Submariner then?

so you don't want my naval lint? *crushed*

you drive a hard bargain.

FWIW i'm with benno and the mods on this one - by all means, request a watch section in the classifieds, but i'd like this space to be for discussing watches only

You think we should use the rubbish general classified section to advertise watches or whatever, unless you are benno who doesn't have to.

I dont think forums are the best place to advertise goods - a thread format often can end up in people bashing the price and a heated discussion, plus annoying bumps.

What I do object to is a mod saying you cannot advertise or place wanted ads on the forum when he has blatantly done just that. One rule for us, one for them doesn't wash.

I agree,

Maxf, did you manage to post any pictures of your lovely 70's vintage speedmaster pro?

Not yet - after the photographing watches thread I assumed it would be a job best left for the weekend! I bought it from ATGvintagewatches.com and think it is still on their sold section if you are interested.

I'm wearing it today though for a bit of a change.

Nice watch and a nice site. Not much stock though. Have you used them before?
