I can already forsee the groups who do reselling going crazy for it and trying to buy them all up for ebay again.

I doubt I'll bother to be honest, my moonswatch earth model is still in its box with stickers on.

So you’re mad at resellers but keeping the watch in box with stickers?? What?

The picture is a render by a fan, obviously, but the Blancpain x Swatch watch is coming biggrin
The shops had them delivered today, in a big sealed yellow box on display ready for the mad hordes on the 9th!

I'm not mad at resellers I don't think I said that? I simply pointed out that's what will happen.

I've kept the watch with stickers on because I bought it on a whim when I was on holiday in Krakow and went into a Swatch shop and it was there, impulse buy.

I've since decided I'm not really fussed about it but I'm torn in selling it on because it was a special holiday. If I did resell it I doubt I'd make anything on it, I'd probably lose a little.

Hope that makes you feel better?

This is pretty much my situation too. I have a Mars, brand new in the box, not even tried on. Just took the battery out to save leakage damage and its sat on the shelf ever since (December). Ive listed it twice and then took the listing down. Dont think ill wear it but dont want to rule it out either.

I don't see the point, won't be as recognisable as the Omega x Swatch at a glance as the Omega it's based on is surely more well known to the average person there for the design more recognisable.

(Well the point is to milk the brand for as much as they can get, but from a consumer POV I don't get it rofl)
I agree, but I'm sure it won't stop the queues and knife fights!

Unpopular opinion, but I'm not massive fan of the 50 Fathoms anyway, its a bit vanilla for my liking, so I can't see me bothering. I would like a Moonswatch though and I still haven't got round to getting one of those! laugh

If it has the Sistem51 movement I'd be quite interested. Would be a nice additional daily to add to my Saturn MoonSwatch. Guess we'll see this weekend, but I might have to get my friend who got the MoonSwatch for me to get me a Blancpain x Swatch 50 Fathoms!

Given that their slogan is "Blancpain has never made a quartz watch and never will." I assume a quartz would be a massive own goal.

I dont think this will harm.that slogan really, it's no more made by Blancpan than the Moonswatch was made by Omega.

Just a tribute to the Blancpan brand.

It will be interesting to see how this collaboration pans out.
Most people have heard of Omega because they are in the shopping centres and the James Bond tie up, but only watch nerds like us know of Blancpain

Problem is, all those flipping Moonswatches will be aware of the new collab and will queue up on Saturday. Once that happens it's modus operandi, and job done. Sadly I suspect it'll be as mental as it was with the Omega tie up. I'm in London Sat morning so if there haven't been reports of people being stabbed, I might drop by Covent Garden who have (during the sales of Moonswatches) been quite fair at trying to give watches to people that genuinely want one. I have my Saturn with me as my daily so that should be a reasonable indicator that I won't flip it!

Of course it will, I guarantee each shop will have a line of 100 young males all dressed the same sitting on fold up chairs waiting to buy one to flip on eBay. Look at anything recently, Moonswatches, Rolex, Trainers even Prime, the reason so many people are desperate to get hold of one is because there are none for sale.

Once the supply is there and anyone can get hold of one nobody wants them anymore. Genius marketing for these companies if they can just control supply enough.

We live in a crazy world when you have to try and persuade a shop assistant in a Swatch store that your money is good enough to exchange for a cheap, plastic watch.

The point is moot really. A Rolex costs nowhere near £7k to make and yet everyone somehow sees massaging the ego of their Rolex AD as acceptable, whilst simultaneously scoffing at the 'plebs' queuing for a '£250 plastic watch'.

Don't get me wrong, I think anything you purchase where you have to persuade the company selling it to you that your money is good enough is crazy. That can be Trainers, a Swatch, a Rolex, a Porsche etc.

But it is a brilliant marketing ploy that these companies have and clearly works, although I would never buy anything from them.

Look at how mental Prime energy drink was for a while, now you can buy it in any super market nobody cares anymore. For these sort of people it is all about having something that other people can't even if they have the money.

Exactly, it's purely hype marketing.

Leaving the whole hype and supply debate by side for a moment, I really really like this cooperation!

It is ingenious to combine an iconic design with cheap plastic (soory, I meant Bioceramic...) case and a simple Swatch Quartz movement for some fun.
And in the case of the Blancpain FF it's a great marketing idea to promote a brand/model that isn't very well known outside the watch world. Also the Swatch Sistem51 is an interesting calibre in it's own right. So I'm really looking forward to them and I'l surely buy one!

Or people who follow GT racing.

As someone who likes watches, but isn't a watch nerd, I wouldn't even know what sort of money a Blancpain (white bread?) watch sells for.

I can't see it being as popular as the Omega version.
