i can see this is a losing battle. In my defence, no-one who has actually just bought one as a pretend rolex is going to admit that, are they...
I'll concede that some people may buy them or a homage type diver because it may be similar to a Rolex and give the impression of Rolex ownership. In my case however I love dive watches and I especially love the modern retro Tudor look which is why I chose them rather than a sea dweller which I could easily have afforded.. so I am definitely in the 1%.
2CV...I'd say you've got your figures arse about tit....I reckon it's about 90% buying BB's for what it is, and maybe only 10% (if that tbh)that are buying for what others think it maybe......
You don't pay 2k for a BB as a Rolex 'copy', you pay 300 quid for a Steinhart or 50 quid for a full on far east fake job.

Well, I thought I was done with buying watches for a while, but one of these came up for sale this morning and I was unable to resist.

This will be my 3rd MM300, but the SBDX012 is a 1000 piece LE, so comparatively rare.
Nice. In time before Oz or will it be waiting for you on your return? Solen pic (from a mate)

Currently considering a Christopher Ward C8 automatic, a potential bargain at under £250. Thoughts?

I've been thinking about them as well. My mate bought one (with the vintage colouring on the dial), fitted it with a Nato strap and its rather lovely. http://www.christopherward.co.uk/sale-winter2015/w...

What model Patek is it? It's stunning
Absolutely! The first time I tried it on, I knew it was 'the one'. The model is the 5205R-010. I haven't actually got mine yet, that was a pic from the net (pretty sure it is Geneva) - mine is on order and I should pick it up this month. The watch is costing £31.5k new from a Patek dealer - so if you bought from a grey market dealer or used you could certainly get it cheaper, maybe around £27k. As I want to keep this one forever though I was happy to pay list price to get a brand new one from my local dealer, my name on the docs, plus for the peace of mind at this price point. Pateks hold their value pretty well, but after dealer margin and depreciation expect a 20%-25% hit on a brand new watch from an AD, probably only 10% buying used.
