My 14 y/o son got a Casio Ediface from his gran for his 13th b/day. Anyway a year and a half on it looked pretty scratched, boys being boys and all that, and then the D button packed up. Sent it back to Casio who said they couldn't repair it and have offered to replace it with anything from their current stock to a value of £170 manufacturers retail price. Not bad considering my mum paid £74 for the Ediface on line.
The MRP Casio emailed over is way above what the watches sell for. So I suspect Casio give huge discounts for bulk orders and the retailers pass some of that on.
Anyway, given that his Ediface got quite scratched, he's opted for a G Shock. He's gone for the GW-9200-1ER (Riseman). It was an MRP of £200 so he's sticking the extra £30 in.
Think he's made a good choice. I have a Protrek and love it. Hopefully the Riseman will last better than his Ediface. And it links to the atomic clock, which is a feature I wish I had on my Protrek.
Damn kid is going to have a better watch than me. Ggggrrr.

It's Edifice mate.
I have a sneaking suspicion that I may well have another one inbound for Christmas.
Anyone else that bought the white G-Lide one from ASOS in the summer, how are they wearing? I'm generally pretty careful with mine as it's a 'nice' one, but the white lacquer has started chipping off the corners of the face

Well perhaps 1 or both of you could contribute something yourselves...
I have done, on numerous occasions right back for the beginning of the thread... And although I do own five different variations of 6900's I also own other types of g-shock too.....That's just a couple of them. The mudman is a just a home brew custom colour variation.
For me its all about buying the ones that I want, not the ones that I think others want.
(Yeah I know, some not pictured on the correct time... I have so many watches it takes a while to rotate through. All times correct now)

I do like that gulfman.
I'm a bit new to this, when you say "customise", do you swop the bits round with other models (straps etc)?
The gulfman is the Japanese Market "Man in Ice White". I got it when it came out for about £130. They now sell for around the £300 mark . It really is one of my favourites I'm a bit new to this, when you say "customise", do you swop the bits round with other models (straps etc)?
For customising... yeah, pretty simple to switch the modules out, for straps and cases you stick to the same model range but there are always colours to choose from, or buy a light colour and dye it (Rit dye in colour of choice, boiling salted water, 10/15mins etc).
With that Mudman it started as a positive module, purchased the negative one for £25ish from casio, then I used jet back "Rit" dye on the strap and case (much darker than standard, removes all button colour and ends up slightly matt in finish). Then using enamel paint I remarked everything in bright yellow. End result a unique to me Mudman that I've had 3 offers to buy.
I have an old very tired 6900 that I'm going to do similar with. The watch stillworks perfectly obviously, but the case has seen better days. Already have the replacement bezel, just need a new strap and module (still choosing). Then I will strip it down, and get started.

I appreciate the detailed response. I think I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for a jap gulfman now!
There is one on ebay right now for just over £300 (not including import duties if any).Like I said, it's a pretty rare model these days and sells for reasonable money. Lovely watch though.
