These are great. I've been looking at them since my JLC had to be returned, can you tell me if it's an original or NOS? Could you give me an idea of price and where you got it?
Thank you,
p
If it was original, I wouldn't be wearing it: it would be in the safe!Thank you,

I bought it on TZ. From the paperwork that came with it, I seem to be the latest in a long line of keepers. There's another one for sale on TZ at the mo. for a shade over £1,100, but the seller isn't having a lot of luck shifting it. Basically because he won't give a straight answer to a straight question. I think these are a good buy. The movements, both date and non date are bulletproof, and you can still buy cases. So you can wear it as a beater, knowing that if you knock it about a bit - and this one has more than a few battle scars - you can re-build it to as new for not a lot of money.

Great, thank you. It seems like just the thing. My JLC - if it ever returns - looks as though it wouldn't sustain much abuse so I'd like something else to knock around in. The idea of a reasonably priced piece that can be maintained and take some beating is very appealing. I bought it on TZ. Absolutely delighted with this, new holiday/semi-beater! Famous brand, very well made and have wanted one since I was a iid readng Clive Cussler / Dirk Pitt novels. A modern watch with 1200m WR with a real vintage feel to it due to the size and shape.
Only downside; the clasp is lousy and the bracelet is cheap feeling compared to the quality of the head. It'll do though until I source a nice classic looking shark mesh.. any suggestions anyone for 20mm mesh?

And... keeping with the JLC theme this arrived today. It's a Reverso Shadow GT from around the end of the nineties or maybe mid noughties? I need to research that bit. I've been after one for ages and I'm delighted with this it's absolutely mint and on its original brown/black JLC croc' strap.
I'll do the obligatory watch and dashboard shot later
Hi Rich,I'll do the obligatory watch and dashboard shot later
Your watch is, as you know, the Reverso Shadow. this watch was launched c1997/98. I sold a couple of these new when I was at Watches of Switzerland. Nice watch.

Very nice, a lot of watch for sub£400, when in Spain or the Canaries I am always drawn to the Certina displays but I have never seen them so competitively priced.
Is yours is a Certina DS Podium quartz?
Yep, a DS Podium Big Size quartz. I wanted something nice as a daily wear without it being mad money, and this fitted the bill for me. Titanium body and bracelet so it's light too.Is yours is a Certina DS Podium quartz?

Did you buy from the Doxa site in the US? Any problems? Did you get stung for VAT etc? I really like the Doxa range but am apprehensive about making such a big purchase without ever trying one in person.

Much wantage here. I'd be interested to know how accurate it is?
Since collecting on Saturday and setting it against one of my atomic Gs it has neither gained or lost a single fraction of a second, that I can tell by eye anyway. I won't be wearing it too often but will keep it wound just to see how it goes over the coming weeks, 72h power reserve is quite handy here Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll get some decent photos up and I'll report on time keeping again.Edited by CardShark on Wednesday 19th March 14:54
