Accuracy of an automatic?

Two minutes out after a fortnight is pretty good for a cheap automatic. That is about +/- 8 seconds a day! You are mistaken if you arent satisfied with that.
.
Sure, but the point is that my original CW C60 was about 2 mins fast in 3 days..
Currently wearing and monitoring the replacement.
I have worn the replacement every day for 7 days and it has been taken off at night. Activities have usually been office based, although I have also worn it whilst walking the dogs and playing golf!
I have not adjusted the watch at all since setting it on arrival and it is now 32 secs slow, or about 4.5 secs per day. That is well within tolerance and I'm very happy with that.

Why do they get stick over their pricing strategy? I like the look of CW divers watches.
Possibly poorly worded on my part as, in my limited hands on experience with CW watches, they offer good specs for the money though, perhaps unfairly, they have also have been labelled by some to be the DFS of the watch world. Their watches are often discounted, they've gone through some image changes in the last few years so there's nearly always older models to be moved on. Like a particular model and not in a rush? Wait until it's in a sale.andy97 said:

My replacement CW C60 is still working ok, but my C7 (Quartz) has had to go back after 7 months because the second hand stuck between 27 secs and 29 secs past and just cycled between the two without being able to move past this point and make a full rotation. The watch therefore effectively stopped even though it was obviously still trying to work.
Very annoying.
I sent it back to CW who offered a repair, as they are entitled to do. I requested a refund but they refused as it was outside the 60:60 period and outside the 6 months covered by consumer law. I have no choice but to accept the repaired watch back (it arrives tomorrow) but, having had both of the Christopher Ward watches that I have bought suffer malfunctions, I have lost confidence in the brand.
Not sure I even want to bother wearing the C7 again and I await further failures!
Not happy.

I have a C5 MKii aviator currently running at +1s a day. Has been as low as +1s a week for a period of a few months (before clouting it on the refrigerator). Really pleased with this as averaging about +15s per day for the first few years and then I ran it through a cheap eBay sourced demagnetiser...
My watch is a Tudor Pelagos v1 with the modified ETA movement.
From the factory it ran at +1 second per day, eventually it slowed down due to a knock, sent it to Rolex for regulation under warranty and since then it's ran at +4 per day.
Very happy with that, I don't even think about it.

That's because your usage pattern matches the movement very well. In 1992-1993 my automatic TAG Heuer 4000 only gained a couple of second between the clocks going forward and going back. Sounds fantastic but another user may have experience very different results with the same watch.
I have always worn automatic watches - apart from when I travel - and I have never watched the seconds for accuracy. 'Is the minute hand on the beeps?' is something I maybe check once every 10 days or so and it generally is.
If you want total accuracy, down to the second, don't buy an automatic - that's not really their purpose.

My comments on this thread have not been about total accuracy, but it is reasonable to expect that watches perform within their advertised +/- accuracy. Neither did, and one was totally stopped after just 7 months! If you want total accuracy, down to the second, don't buy an automatic - that's not really their purpose.
