Well the watch turned up at my house even though it wasn't marked as dispatched. That being the case I wasn't sent a code to give to the delivery guy. He said he'd come back but I suggested nothing would be different so I'd contact customer support. I tried my best to explain but they insisted it was stuck in the warehouse despite me telling them I'd literally seen it. Either way at some point they'd marked it as dispatched and surprisingly the next day two turned up that the Mrs took in whilst I was at work. Being honest (to a fault sometimes) I informed them accurately of the case, and said I was sending one back and keeping the other. They said they understood, but on receiving the return they refunded me! Short of begging them to take the money back, I tried it all, but even I have limits how far I'll go when faced with some fortuitous luck from a well known commerce giant who probably won't even notice.
Seems like you might have done even better with a Glycine, it's a lovely watch though I won't push you for the story. Donation sounds noble though. I on the other hand spent the money on a decent meal out for the family, and some treats for the kids. Everyone seems more accepting of my watch obsession now.

The £7.22 Megir, is one year old today.
The dilemma I face, the chrome is starting to lift, strap getting a bit ropey, no doubt the battery will need replacing soon.
Do I pull the trigger on a new chronometer or invest in the daily beater?
Not a decision for others to make, if you like the watch, the cost of keeping it in use is insignificant. The dilemma I face, the chrome is starting to lift, strap getting a bit ropey, no doubt the battery will need replacing soon.

[bonkers]The cost of replacing the whole watch for an identical one is probably less than paying someone to replace the battery.[/bonkers]Barchettaman said:

Really fancy a Omega Swatch Moonswatch, but they are a fraction over budget for this thread. Was hoping ebay would bring them under but people paying over the odds, presumably because they are only available to buy instore. Appreciate the controversy over the watch, I just like the way they look and as my 8 year old is space, the planet on the back is a nice thing. Think I need to keep an eye on ebay for one within thread budget.
It’s your money; if you fancy it, go for it. I would suggest that if you’re looking for a space-related watch, and you can go a bit over thread budget, then the Bulova Lunar Pilot comes into view and that’s a proper watch, not a plastic fragile toy:

Should I spend pretty much thread max on a brand new Tissot prx digital or get yet another variant of a dive watch?
Just had a reasonable bonus so feel the need for a little treat!
I love digital watches so the thought of an 'up market' one appeals.

Lovely looking thing that, but that's a hefty price for a digital watch.Just had a reasonable bonus so feel the need for a little treat!

We're a broad and tolerant crowd here, but I simply couldn't countenance spending 230 quid on a very ordinary looking digital watch, no matter what brand it was.
Sorry for pissing on your chips, but I think there are very many more attractive watches out there, with either hands or numbers.
So broad and tolerant that comments from one user put me on a self imposed ban for a couple of years, but hey-ho.Sorry for pissing on your chips, but I think there are very many more attractive watches out there, with either hands or numbers.

I'm moving out of watches.
I've decided the hot action is in collecting fountain pens.

Well, perhaps not moving out entirely. But after receiving a classy little German number for my Birthday, and subsequently buffing up a couple of old flames from my youth, I seem to have stirred an interest in these lovely things. Consequently, I've resolved to establish a themed collection of vintage Parker classics. Perfect inspiration to start work on my first novel...
May I wish you the very best with your latest addiction from my position of cirlcing the for sale thread like a starved vulture on speed.Barchettaman said:

For me I like to take my time in choosing the next watch and often find that after several months of looking at one particular watch I realise it has a compromise that I am not happy with that wasn't apparent on first viewing.
What madness is this?Bobbers, red card please.
