Think I've just completed my collection - Sea Dweller
Discussion
I'm very envious, and slightly curious too. Am saving steadily for exactly this watch and I have reached a couple of grand. Realistically I don't have the patience to save £7k and if I did, the Seadweller will doubtless have risen to £8k by then. This is dispiriting and so knowing that the AD does interest free credit and the watch holds value well, when do I go for it? How are we buying our expensive timepieces PHers?

Go to the casino , gamble the wife's housekeeping money , the rent and the spare 50p's. for the gas meter by putting it all on red.Walk into watch dealer with a bag full of cash .
Works every time.

I have both and it`s the Deepsea that will be going!
SD4000 is easy to live with and I can`t fault it
Enjoy yours ryandoc, you won`t have any regrets!

That's a Deepsea, so a fair bit larger than the SD4000 being discussed.
I sold my DSSD and bought a 16600 SD a few years back as I didn't get on with the size.
I think the new SD4000 is the ideal compromise.
When I first tried one on I thought it might be a bit tall for it's diameter but that was in comparison to some 45mm + watches that I had also been wearing at the timeI sold my DSSD and bought a 16600 SD a few years back as I didn't get on with the size.

Once you compare the tapered lugs of the SD4 and how they blend into the bracelet to how the ceramic Sub cases don't, it's hard not to prefer the SD4
I seem to remember removing the extension link too for a bit of extra comfort
The SD4000 case is a real step up from the ceramic Sub IMHO... Just looks far less 'square'.
I'd never trade my 16610 Sub Date for a ceramic Sub but the proportions of the SD4000 are fantastic.
I keep telling myself I don't need one but my Coke GMTII and 16600 have sat in boxes since we moved house over a year ago so I do feel like a further (sold my Zenith EP) consolidation could be had...

Hang on to the GMTII. Its value is shooting up every year. Now well over £5,500 for a mint with b&p (retail)
Really? I haven't really been tracking values. It has seen very little wear since its service back at Rolex a couple of years back so it's pretty minty... Hmmm... I do have a car project on the go...It wasn't just me then, The lugs on the ceramic sub just looked odd to me! I'll stick to my 16600 for now.
But would love the pepsi of the SD4000
