Hi there . If the glass has fragmented it may be worth considering a service . The fragments can and do get into the watch and cause problems . If its a chip or crack but external only then you will be ok with a sapphire only . Use genuine parts and make sure its water tested its worth doing the job well .

The Datejust 16030 is fitted with a acrylic (plastic) crystal. These don't shatter and fragment like a synthetic sapphire crystal fitted to the later 162-- variants. An original Rolex supplied part should be fitted for under £50 by a sympathetic watchmaker.Dominic H said:
