Morning all,

I am looking at a watch without box and papers. Only £600 so not overly worried - but what value do you place on box and papers? Can you get a certificate of authenticity at a later date (Omega)? etc. etc.

...depends a lot on the particular make/model in question, but as a guide you should knock off 20% I reckon for missing box & papers.

Certs of authenticity can always be obtained at a later date - but not as valuable to a WIS.

unless the watch could be verified as being real, not replica first, i wouldnt buy one without box and papers.

...as long as the watch is from a reputable seller, I think it's fine.

If it's from a private individual or a dodgy dealer, then probably best to stay clear unless you can get authenticity verified at a service centre/ authorised dealer first.

There are a few hooky boxes and papers (not sure about the chronometer cert) doing the rounds - especially for Rolex. Buy the seller, not the watch!

I'm thinking of selling my 1974 speedmaster pro. Drop me an email if you are interested.

I'm sure I can rustle some up - it has a mint 1970s ss bracelet. I bought it on a whim about 2 months ago - so it even still has about a month warranty left! Was serviced when I bought it - it is virtually mint (looks 3 months old, rather than 33 years).
