As I apparently "already have everything" and am "unbelievably difficult to buy presents for" I've been looking some totally unnecessary things such as watch winders. They seem massively over the top expensive, until I found these on Play.com:

Less than half the price of anything I've seen from any other vaguely reputable retailer. Worth a punt to stick on my Christmas list? (Apparently "Don't get me anything this year. I'm 27. Seriously." is not good enough.)

I read on here before that cheap winders can do more harm than good. Not sure if true or not!

Really? It's only going to be spinning a Seiko 009 and a vintage Omega Seamaster. Nothing massively expensive...hence not wanting to spend more than the value of the watches on a winder!

My seiko monster has lived in one of these for the last year, no problem at all.

Have you looked at the Modalo winders from Germany?

IMO they have far superior innards and workings to the plastic tat on ebay and they are not super expensive for the quality you get.

Less than fifty quid?

Apols, didn't realise your budget was £50

The Modelos are approx 100 euro, but they are much better built and will last accordingly.

You've got a couple of nice watches, go on, treat them!

(sound like a 2nd hand car salesman laugh )

If I was buying it for myself, I might. This is just something to put on the Christmas list.

This summarises everything I hate about Christmas. You could get yourself a decent watch winder but instead you're going to get your family to buy you something less good than you'd buy yourself.

That's mental :?

Where would be the best place to get one of those from? And why are watch winders so bloody expensive!

Actually, to be honest, I probably wouldn't buy one myself. They're just too expensive.

These here look quite good for 69 euro. Anyone have one?
