Tissot watches, any good??
Discussion
Tissot give a lot of watch for the money.
Issues about the T-Touch usually come down to operator error. Search the Tissot forum on watchuseek for more details. There is a Tissot service rep who posts on there regularly. Tissot have now started providing the instructions on DVD to try to rectify the operator error problem.
Apparently the rest of the issues with the T-Touch are with peoples expectations, it looks like a rugged watch to rival the G-Shock. It was never Tissots intent to create something that rugged and the watch will not stand up to similar abuse. Again, this is information from Tissot, search watchuseek for more.

They offer some nice looking dress watches and appear to be good value for money. Their watches can only be purchased on line, but you are covered by the distance selling regs, so no problem returning stuff within 14 days.
Chris Ward also have a better range of mechanical automatics than Tissot.
The only other thing I would say about Tissot is that their service sucks. I have had to return two watches to them - one mechanical to get it adjusted, one for a new strap. They badly scratched the mechanical (and refused liability) and tried to keep the old strap off the other watch.

I like the look of the PRS516 range - the chrono's have the Valjoux 7750 movement, so in pretty good company!
I've got the original PRS516 model and I love it and so do other people judging by the questions I get about itOnly problem I had was finding a replacement strap but got there in the end.

I can't recall specifics, but I'm sure I've read a fair few complaints about the reliability of the T-Touch compass/barometer/altimeter watches. Never heard anything against the regular watches though.
I have one, several years old now and no problems. It's not aged well - looks a little dated to me now but no issues with any of the features, functions or reliability.i have a Quadrato Chronograph, black with black rubber strap. had it over two years ago as a Christmas present, and it was faultless until just after the end of its 2 year warranty, when it started to loose around 5 mins a day. In the end I ended up sending it back to Tissot (owned by Swatch) and they said that i needed a service at the cost of £95. So as i like the watch and it was a prezzy from my OH i stumped up. It has just come back after what seems like ages, around 3 months, and now works fine.
I have had quite a few comments about it as people interested in watches seem to like it, and on the whole i am happy with it, but i think a £95 service for a £220 watch is a little steep. I bought a nice Fossil brown dressy type watch a few months ago as a stand in for £90, and that also looks good and has received favourable comments, so just keep an eye on it when it gets close to the end of the warranty.
