Advice needed:

A friend has asked me for some advice re what to buy for his son's 18th birthday. Criteria are: £1,400-ish, durable for sailing (water resistant, secure strap/bracelet) and both analogue and digital displays. Doesn't necessarily have to be new.

Any ideas?

Why does he need a digital display as well? Can't he tell the time?

At that price and description I'd go for an Omega Seamaster and some lessons on time-telling tongue out

I got one of these for my 21st... and now a decade later it's still going strong, despite being worn daily for most of that time. Its been hit by cricket balls whilst batting, kncoked, dropped, been in the sea... and still scrubs up well with a quick clean. smile

A Rado (ceramic one) might be an alternative.
