OK. So I might have a little unexpected money coming my way (probably in the region of £1000), and I'm going to spend it on a watch or watches.
The criteria are:
Nomos Orion with blued hands (£995)
OR
Junghans Max Bill handwound (£395)
AND
Seiko Alpinist SARB017 (£500-ish)
What else is out there, in a similar vein? For more exotic pieces, I'm not averse to good condition used.
The criteria are:
- Mechanical (handwound is fine)
- Not a diver (I've got a couple, and don't want any more just yet)

I like the Max Bill range this one is tempting me at present.

Get the Max Bill. You know you want to, and you'll make me drool at BTaP. In fact with Hasler's Dornbleuth in the room at the same time, I might even be pushed into a watch envy based flounce.
What I don't understand (albeit at a casual first glance) is why this is £495

and yet this is £1280?

I'd want the white face anyway, but am I missing something, or ought I to bite his arm off?

They're both pictures of the Chronoscope, but the pricing and titling of the first is consistent with the automatic variant of the Max Bill I posted in my OP.What I don't understand (albeit at a casual first glance) is why this is £495

Is a Damasko too tool-watch?
I think so. I've never really warmed to the dial on a Damasko; while I don't doubt the quality and durability, the actual design of the dial always strikes me that the watchmaker went:A Damasko Watchmaker said:
Nearly finished. Time for the pub... Ahh, fksticks. Dial. Yes. It'll need one of those. Bish bash bosh, lots of markers, Helvetica numerals, done. Mine's a pint.
Sinn?
They do some lovely other bits and pieces.
Muhle Glashutte M12 Flieger?
They look gorgeous on the chunky leather strap!
