A new Tag Heuer was purchased at Christmas , a Formula 1 Calibre 16 automatic, and unfortunately it has developed an intermittent fault where the winder spins when I try to Change the date and the date wheel seems to stick between two dates, because it's not a daily and I wear it only a couple of times a week or maybe it is left for a week I will have to change the date and reset the time each time I wear it. This has happened 3 or 4 times since I got it but after a little manipulation all clicks into place, the winder is very stiff as well not a smoothe click but a more forceful pull to get it into date/time changing position, however not what should happen in a circa. 2.5k watch

Took it back to the retailer and low and behold it worked fine and I couldn't get it to replicate the fault. So after listening to the 'Tag Heuer ambassador'. Who told me I should have a rocker for an automatic, or it won't work properly, shame my 60 year old Smiths deluxe works fine and so does my 80's Seiko 5 with not a rocker in sight.....I digress they agreed to send it for upto 10 weeks to LVMH to diagnose a fault......and if one is found I will reject the watch and choose another make, my confidence in the TAG is non existent and after reading about LVMH in Manchester I am fully expecting the watch to come back as no fault found.

Is there anything else I can do.....I will when it's returned Video the watch every time I have to make changes then I'll have proof.

Are you changing date between 9pm and 3 am?
If so, then you shouldn't as it can cause issues with the movement, so always make sure the time is before or after that range, before starting to set the date.
If it's not that, then that is peculiar, and you may be wise to at least have it looked at.
I probably am, seeing as it is 18hrs of the clock, but never really noticed is that a particular issue on Calibre 16's ?... Thanks for the input PJS

It's 6 hours isn't it...?

This is an issue just on the Calibre 16, it's an issue on all watches with a date wheel. It is the time when the date mechanism is engaged to turn the date wheel and changing the date wheel between these hours can cause damage.
D'oh 6 hrs yes...then I would say it isn't a time where I would change the date.
