Rolex watches = Naff.
Discussion
I'm sorry but after glancing over yet another thread on watches, I find it hilarious that people fuss over Rolex.
I bought one and sold it again, I couldn't wear it as I came to the conclusion that they are only bought by people that wear them for pub power!
They are tacky and unreliable, anyone who knows their timepieces and would prefer a bit of style goes for a better quality timepiece, generally more understated.
Unless they want to compare bills with the local kebab shop owner that is.

Because it was meant to be the watch to aspire to, although in real life, pretty dull.
Ah, bought it to show off?
Fair enough, there are worse reasons to spend money.
Nope love my watches, always wanted a Rolex had a salmon faced Air King then a white faced Daytona but I felt they were far too brash and bling. Now gone for something subtle, understated and classy for a change.

What a strange post.
You bought a watch that you thought aspirational, found it wasn't what you expected and now scoff at others who like them.
Perhaps not everyone buys them for the same reasons you did?
Nope, keep up.
I bought in as some of you did to the whole Rolex thing, thinking they were the timepiece to be reckoned with, a real quality item to have for life. I liked them but in the real world. I'm sorry they ARE tacky.

I recommend nothing and right now I'm wearing a Swatch.
I'm sure I remember you mentioning you have an Omega?
Nope, a Mondeo.
A Mondeo Speedmaster?
What kind of MPG you get?
60 seconds per minute!

Why isn't a Rolex a quality watch? What's tacky about this submariner? It may not be to everyone's tastes but I don't think it's an overly showy, ostentatious watch.
Looky looky, luverly watch, been to show sir, these left over, as seen in magazine, see... see! You look after me, watch look after you. Not interested? O.K. here on beach all day sir!

I honestly think tags just look the business, my brother is a dive instructor so has an omega, my mate drives a boxster so has a rolex, I have 3 tags and I think they look so much better.
Exact opposite for me. My Dad's a dive instructor and has been wearing his Rolex ever since he started diving 20 years ago and has never had a problem with it. My uncle works in sales, drives a BMW soft top and wears an Omega. Also both would never buy a Tag due to seeing how crap my one holds the time.
I say buy what you like.
Other than Omega's, which are for people who think all Andy Mcnab books are fact and that they will look cool drinking a vodka martini.

...or Mini drivers, as Mr Bean prefers a teddy to good timepiece.
