Watch enthusiasts etiquette...
Discussion
Gents,
I know that we can all have strong opinions which are expressed on the forums but I like to think that there is a code of conduct between watch enthusiasts.
I ask for advice from the group. I am in the process of selling my SMP Mid-sized and I have received an email from a member of a different forum and we agreed a sale. Problem is, he has not come to collect the watch nor has he paid. I was informed that he would come last Thursday and never showed up. I called repeatedly to no answer, sent about three messages and I received a PM in the evening saying that something had come up. I have not heard from him since and I have therefore contacted another interested party from Pistonheads.
The interested party was very prompt at replying to emails as was I. I sent the interested party an email with the information requested on 12th of February and another just to see if the email was received and I am yet to hear from anyone.
My question is, am I being unrealistic in my expectations of fellow enthusiasts? Or is what is going on just plain rude?
Chris

"Something came up" just isn't good enough, forget the fool.
I'll vouch for Chris if you want to do a deal. Top bloke, knows his watches, has good taste and won't mess you about.
Yes, Chris is the type of guy that I am used to dealing with! I have heard great things and I am actually in contact with him about a watch deal I'll vouch for Chris if you want to do a deal. Top bloke, knows his watches, has good taste and won't mess you about.
Gents,
Sorry to bring this up again, but am I expecting too much?
As you all know I am trying to sell the mid sized SMP, nothing dodgy about it and I always reply to emails promptly etc. On two occasions I have had interested parties who have then sourced watches from else where, yet have left me hanging.
Surely (I know I do), if you enquire about a watch for sale and receive a reply with the information requested, should you not let the seller know that you no longer require their services? Especially when dealing on forums, where prices are usually considerably less than high street.
Sorry just a little disappointed.

I replied to your email lastnight, But since emails dont seem to be getting through for some reason. Thanks for all your replies
I'll say it here,
Ive acquire a watch from another person, Im sorry that i didnt email you sooner but I was dealing with 7 different people and it was unfortunate that I missed you out when i was emailing everyone thanking them for their time and patience.
Your watch is a very nice example btw and looks rather nice on the aftermarket strap.
Sorry again.
Thanks for the compliments on the watch. I am sure that you have a lovely example.
Chris
