A few years ago I upgraded my partners Rolex and decided to sell her old watch on ebay.To cut a long story short I ended up selling it to somebody who gave me a stolen building society cheque as payment for the watch(it transpires that quite a few of these blank cheques were stolen at a break in at one of the building society in questions branches)
Obviously I reported it to the police and also contacted the Rolex lost/stolen register.
The person who took the watch had all the paperwork for it,certificate etc, even the original bill of sale.
I was wondering if anyone else who has lost a Rolex over the years has ever had their watch recovered by the Rolex lost/stolen register?Ive posted on other websites and although Ive come across plenty of people who have lost watches various ways, nobody Ive come across has ever had their watch returned by this service.

Just to clarify-the watch wasn't insured, and the thief paid with a building society cheque(ie like a bankers draft),the cheque was genuine with watermarks and hologram however it was stolen so not legit.Over the years I have accepted hundreds of bank drafts and building society cheques for various things and released the goods immediately and never had a problem.

Needless to say I'm a bit more careful .nowardays....
