St Neots is a bit far out for me. My wife works just in the North of Luton so St Neots would be 50min drive and she can't do that due to her Cronic fatigue.
we like the look of flitwick and Biggleswade. We have seen some nice houses in Bedford but are not sure on the areas.
Again, Fairfield Park is a relatively new estate built in the grounds of a listed hospital (Which is converted to flats/gym/restaurant) and is an extremely quiet area, Luton is ~20minutes away depending on right foot and part of Luton, there is a Tesco on site and no noise at all at night.we like the look of flitwick and Biggleswade. Moved here from Luton and it's worlds apart.

I live in Bedford and commute to London. Living in the Black Tom area (now renamed Prime ministers) I can leave my house at 6:20 and be at St Pancres as 7:05. It's an easy walk and certainly a good area if you're looking to commute. The nicest part of Bedford though is the Castle Road/poets area. It's bit further away (25mins walk to the station) but quite lovely. I'd probably pick there as my place to buy in Bedford. For commuting Bedford is pretty much ideal and offers faster trains than the likes of Flitwick, though I wouldn't personally discount any of the areas you've listed.
