Anyone here work in Farnborough business park? I've been standing at the top of my work car park with my binoculars looking like a bit of a geek. Glad someone has posted the timings in this thread so I now know what to expect.

The Dornier 328 Jet was dis[playing a short while ago. Earlier in the day, the turboprop version did his display.

You don't happen to be one of the techies do you? I recognise your Fiesta! And the Mikes Triumph of course.

So this afternoon while I was getting oily and generally swearing at bicycles, there was a lot going on. Mostly I heard stuff, and caught the occasional glimpse of the source of the noise.

I think I saw...

B-25
P-40
Corsair

I know I saw...

A-400

...because it went out around the back of my house, over Hawley Lake way, and it was close enough to read the numbers on it.

There was other stuff too, but these were the only ones I caught a glimpse of.

It's showing up on FR24 as being on the ground. I was wondering what the call sign referred to.

It wasn't ID'd because it's only just changed from its former American reg onto UK plates and the hex code wasn't known. I'm responsible for adding the factory new Boeing's to the FR database by the way. I've sent the info to them so it should show up with its proper ID tag and reg G-CLAB within 24 hours. smile

Wow - an insider smile

Why do most of the biz jets coming into Farnborough not reveal their registrations?

Because FR24 respects the privacy of their owners/operators and hides the details from public view. Not all sites block them though. Try planefinder.net and ADSB Exchange. PF leaves the majority of biz viewable but blocks most mil. ADSBEx doesn't block anything but the worldwide coverage is nothing like that of FR24, although the UK coverage is pretty good. Other issues with ADSBEx are that they are rather lazy when it comes to appending registrations to hex codes so you'll often see a ping with just the hex code and callsign and so you'll have to use external resources to find out what it is (or ask me). The server(s) running ADSBEx are not the best either and the site sometimes hangs.

I've got LBA a mile away from me and ADSBex is my go-to site for identifying stuff I can see/hear buzzing around. It hasn't let me down yet and is the best site for MLAT stuff. For reasons unknown to me FR24 very rarely shows any MLAT stuff despite there being at least 3 radar sites in the vicinity.

Thank you.

I was just wondering why biz jets were treated differently to airliners and general light aircraft.
