737 - 800, why the upswept wings?
Discussion
AFAIK all Hawk T1 and T1A have a pair of 'Toblerones' on the leading edge of each wing inboard of the wing fence. I wasn't aware that the Reds' a/c were any different.
These 'toblerones' are there to cause flow separation at Critical Alpha (Angle of Attack) so as to ensure that the inboard part of the wing stalls before the outboard part, thus reducing any tendency towards 'Wing Drop' at the stall with a consequential inadvertent spin/departure.

I know that the platforms that we have at Warton don't have them, and there are always a few different models floating around the place - maybe it's an 'aftermarket mod'
The Red versions can be seen on any picture, including the one on my desk
I sat through one of their team pre-mission briefings once (geek quotient exceeded by miles) and was fascinated by a whole series of moves and video demonstrations punctuated with 'pull to the buffet'... Wonderful stuff
