Ever since the Columbia incident they obviously want to really stress that no ICE or debris will affect the shuttle before, during or on reentry.

I think Johnny narrator (shuttle launch control) even referred to the piece of ice as teeny and tiny!

2 hours to go (the broadcast says 1.14ish but thats the count without the hold periods where the clock is stopped)read nerd

Meaning? They stop the clock from time to time to mixed it up a tad and really draw it out?

60% chance of launch, I am decided, I am staying up so i am off to get a nice big coffee

yep 9.35pm EST is the scheduled time, so 2.35 UK. they hold at t-20 mins i think for a while to do checks or something.

If anyone here is geeky enough (ok I admit I am paperbag) you can try your own shuttle launch with this simulator. You can also try an Apollo mission as well, but it's very hard.

No,STS-115 mission Atlantis went up on Sept 9th this year. I know this because I was at the Kennedy space centre during the preperations in August (when the launch was originally scheduled for) and saw it on the Launch pad and saw the crawler up close.

Its emmence!!!!!eek

Yes, but that was a daytime launch. Eric was asking about the last night launch, which was the one I quoted.

That's like immense but better

I think *Night* launch was specified, rather than just the previous launch of any type.
