A bit of a thread resurrection, but the Daily Wail were reporting on this again recently, and how, if it were to blow up, it was cause significant issues.
What do we think? Could it cause a major catastrophe, or is it all "blown out of proportion "?

I'm a bit surprised that a terrorist organisation hasn't tried planting a large explosive device on it.

A friend lives in Gravesend and fishes near it from time to time.
Apparently if you go anywhere near it, you are visited by various authorities very quickly.

I think more the latter as a result of modern H&S over-kill scare mongering as to the resultant effect of it going bang one day......
It would be a big bang though smile

If you look at the extract from Coast, it does a pretty good synopsis of what would happen if it goes pop.

Given its proximity to both Saarfend & Sheppey, I think the damage bill may amount to about £10 laugh

Damage, should it go off? To what, and where? Looking at the South Essex and North Kent towns, it'd be a considerable improvement.
