Thank you.

I was just wondering why biz jets were treated differently to airliners and general light aircraft.
Some owners request their data Is kept private. Some plane tracking websites go along with it (fr24 plane finder) and others don't (adsb exchange, 360radar)

Morning, I understand that the A380 is due in around 15:20 today, as well as various items arriving after RIAT. Anyone got any times for these please?

eta: on the way now:

I'm going on Friday and I'm wondering how much extra time should I allow? Google Maps says it'll take an hour and a half to drive there.

Lots!

I drove OUT of Farnborough this morning at about 0730hrs. Traffic was already queuing off the A331 into North Camp, and there was traffic queuing off the A31 (Hog's Back) onto the A331 too. On my way back home from Guildford I skirted round the back way, but wherever I crossed the signed 'Airshow Traffic' routes it was busy, busier than usual, and that was at 0830hrs.

That was coming in from the south, and south east. Traffic from the west and north, from Reading way and off the M3 and A30? Can't help I'm afraid, but suffice to say the cheapest fuel in the area is at Morrisons, on the signed route to the airshow, and last week I put in enough to make sure I didn't have to go back there during airshow week... wink

Something you NEED to bear in mind, though - DO NOT rely on your Satnav to get you there. There are a number of (spurious, IMHO) 'safety' road closures, and the road from the A331 through North Camp to the show is alternately one-way traffic on the public days at least. One way IN in the mornings, and one way OUT in the afternoons/evenings. And beware of the shiny 'luxury' minibuses displaying airshow passes. They're mostly out-of-towners and drive like absolute imbeciles. One (V4 KLA) this morning nearly wiped out the BMW ahead of me on the exit of a roundabout. Dived right into the (tiny) gap ahead of the BMW despite his road position and right-turn signal suggesting he was going to take the next exit, onto the A331. Plus locals can get frustrated and the busier it gets the less willing drivers are to cooperate with one another. I love aeroplanes, but as a local I've grown to hate the airshow 'circus' and the disruption caused by show traffic.

Leave early. And enjoy! biggrin

I knew these were coming two Farnborough airshows ago - when I spoke to the RAF crew who had just flown the US Navy P-8 from Florida to Farnborough.

Some of the same crew are back I think Eric - certainly one of the crew in the photo i posted in the P-8 thread today is an old friend from my Air Training Corps days and has been out in Florida with the US Navy for some time now

The Apache purchase is interesting, the current AH1's were assembled by Westland in the UK with RR/Termomeca engines, have some mods for using on ships, and presumably a few other differences from the AH64D's they were based on. If they're now buying E's will the existing AH1's be upgraded to the same spec, and do the E's have a maritime capability?

I think the F-18 has just cancelled his display. It looks like the weather wiped out his slot.

If the weather is coming from the West, you'll be fine.

Air Show Radio presenter is saying it's a "deluge the like of which I've not seen in 20 years of covering Farnborough Air Show".

I wouldn't go as far as he did in saying that it's worse than he's seen EVER, and he was brought up in Farnborough, but by Christ the Met Office buggered their forecast up today. The BBC said it would be 'sunny intervals' until about 1500hrs, then 'light showers' until about 2000hrs.

Still, it'll save me from having to wash the Goodwood and Chalke Valley History Festival mud off my car from the last few weeks. Every cloud, etc, etc...
