A whistling Goblin just flew right over my house. It's a fabulous sound, especially when it's chasing down a Meteor. The Meteor is looking good, too, with the yellow bands on the wings. The pair together is something that I've missed at air displays for many years now.
You mean Vampire I think wink

Rizzo,

At the weekend they will be stopping everything pass or not. You may well get to your office, but try and stop out on the road to watch and you will get moved on, pass or otherwise. My company has a do on Sunday and those of us with tickets will still have to jump through hoops to get in. Even been told our car park will be patrolled to stop people gathering on the roof (It's our carpark ffs!!! wink )

The Vampire T11 evokes great memories for me. The Irish Air Corps' T55s were a very common sight and sound in the skies around Dublin in the 1960s and 70s. They always reminded me of a whistling kettle.

Oops. I was watching it but didn't see any bits falling off. He was assuming some very steep climb angles.

woohoo Woohoo!

0843hrs, and the "Vintage Pair" are back in business!!!!

Vampire and Meteor just 'whistled' in over my house. Hopefully the commentary will mention the two crew lost in '86 at Mildenhall when the real Vintage Pair touched mid-display. I'm presuming they are displaying together, as a pair? Or will they follow each other as solo displays on the day?
I remember watching the 86 crash. The next time I saw a Meteor in the air was almost exactly 2 years later at Coventry.

Almost put me off Meteors.

No, I mean Goblin. Exactly what I said. Vampires don't whistle, silly! The fangs get in the way. getmecoat

I was referring to the DH Goblin engine fitted to the Vampire, as it's the engine what whistles, not the fairyplane wink

A400M was just up, too. My neighbour's kids were WELL impressed that such a big aircraft was being chucked around like that. Apparently it was 'wicked'.

I am going to Farnborough as a trade guest. Ive got passes and stuff and a nice lunch booked at the chalet stand of my favourite arms dealer.

Never been to farnborough before in my life.

It is quieter on the trade days? Easier to park? Actually, where do I park?

Or is it easier to get a train and then taxi / walk?
Despite living less than 40 minutes from Farnborough, for the last ten shows I have always used the train.

There's a bus service which runs from Farnborough Main Railway Station directly to and fro the show all day.

The reason is simple: if some kind organisation is treating you to lunch then they'll also expect you to accompany said lunch with a number of fine wines. I have always felt that it would be churlish to decline such hospitality.

Moreover, once one has visited one vendor's chalet one inevitably ends up bumping into other people who one knows, and that similarly inevitably leads to an invitation to visit another chalet, and so it goes on.

The only hazard I have found with this approach was falling asleep on the train home and ending up in Salisbury...
Sounds bloody marvellous. Train it is then. smile

Just had a pleasant stroll through the Business Park watching the A400M and A350XXL (or whatever it is).

They seem to be checking pedestrians passes at the Village hotel end but not the Gloster pub end.

A380 will be displaying shortly.

He will not be landing directly after but is continuing south to hold at Goodwood.

About 5m

Back gate locked but unguarded (yesterday) and looks like you could easily duck under, but would be a problem if there were roving security in the park.

Wonder what costco will do next week, if they will check membership to go in the car park like they do at reading when there is a match on.

Saw him circling on FR over Frimley, looked out the window and there he was just initiating the turn for another loop around Farnborough

Well surely your post is still wrong then... as the 'Goblin' was chasing down two 'Derwent's' wink (At least I think thats what is fitted to the Meteor currently buzzing my office)
