Hi all,

Spotted 'Tatoosh' on a recent trip.

Very impressive, complete with helicopter too.

When sitting at a bar later in the day, we saw her cruise past, helicopter blades attached

Returned not long after minus the Helicopter to the mooring.
We were there at same time - fine yacht isn't she? is she still for-sale?

Indeed a lovely looking yacht, I used to enjoyed sitting at the bar next to where she was moored, admiring.

She seems to have been taken off the market now

Asean Lady - the nearest thing I've seen to a floating block of flats !
Had a few beers with the guy who was chartering it as they were confined to shore as
one of the crew was diagnosed as having TB smile

A brand new yacht has turned-turtle upon launching. A tad embarrassing.

normally based in Raffles Marina, she is designed for the Chinese market, i.e. no outside deck space, just all air conditioned interior in order to gamble, drink expensive whiskey mixed with coke or play with the girls.

yes she is fugly!

I'm no ship designer but I'd be surprised if no one said "looks a bit top heavy to me" at some point.

I've been reading a bit about that today since the OP posted it.

Apparently the guy that designed it "wanted to re invent ship design", now I have not an ounce of knowledge about the technicalities of ship design.... But any foul can see that would never stand upright in water!

Interesting in the article this was pointed out before it was built and their solution was to ballast it. Obviously we've all got degrees in hindsight, but a real simple mistake made it seems.

It does look top heavy, but it could still have been stable enough if the CofG was low enough with a steel hull and aluminium super structure.

All made of GRP, not ally or steel.

The normal ones are quite chunky and rugged. Someone has tried to ponce this one up.

It's a wonder why anyone wastes their money hiring professionals to design and engineer things when there are so many normal people who "aren't an expert" but have 100% records of being able to "see that was wrong" after an accident.
I wouldn't be hiring 'those' professional's to design my boat that's for sure. wink

The real expensive costs are incurred in owning one, not hiring it and not even using it.
yes Ours has cost the Boss approx. $8M per day of use so far. This summer should bring that down a bit I hope.

Most of the weight is in the bottom though, engines, generators, water maker, batteries, water tanks, fuel tanks whereas most of the upper decks are just filled with air for the passengers to walk about in.

does look daft though

How did that ugly thing even get to a cost of £10m?

Still. Only a very small proportion on that weight is under the waterline though.

Looking at the other pictures from the article it's too short, too tall and too narrow.
