Just watched the DC3/C47 3-ship display, whilst frantically trying to save the (almost dry) washing from a heavy shower.

Very impressive, especially with them all in closely matched D-Day markings. L4-D (2100884)and 3X-P (2100882) looked like they headed back toward Farnborough, 1D-N (224064) split from the leading pair, turned, and went straight over my house, headed toward Camberley/Bracknell way at the end of the routine.

something loud went over a short while ago, accompanied by a series of very loud bangs. Surely not sonic booms - the army sounded like they were out and about this morning so perhaps it was them at it again.

Had a great time with the little one this morning. Parked up outside Helios car park and watched the DC3s and an inbound F18. Highlight was the Harrier which, despite the noise, mini-me enjoyed very much.

Quite poignant as I am sure that will be the last time I see one flying. Managed a brief video for posterity but thought it best to experience as much of it in real-time as possible. Amazing AC, especially when it powers out of the hover at the end.

Then moved to the Gloster pub where we enjoyed a drink and a close-up display of a small 2 seat trainer and the magnificent Vulcan. Again, little one was very impressed!

The series of loud bangs (there were several throughout the morning) was courtesy of the Royal Engineers at Gibraltar Barracks. Demolitions training was taking place over at Minley.

Disconcerting, when the bangs start just as '558 disappears out of site behind some trees wink

Very pleased some else saw this today, it flew over Godalming and I thought I was hallucinating!!

Remember building a 1/72 version back when I were lad, Heller I think. Lovely looking thing, has a certain grace.

I cycled up to the fence at Eelmoor bridge this afternoon, and spotted the Constellation sat on it's own on the tower side of the runway. Then it took off as I was riding back down from Caesars Camp. It looked, and sounded brilliant.

Also saw the Vulcan being pushed back into the parking area in the static park. It looks very small sat next to the Omega Tanker. (That in turn looks small next to the A380, but that wasn't in today.) Not a great variety of 'heavies' in the static park as far as I could see, but lots of small/medium business jets and regional airliners about the place. The Boeing MSA arrived while I was there, too, complimenting the P-8 Poseidon nicely. A British 'Shadow' R1 quietly left without announcing itself on the tower's frequency, in the middle of quite a busy period of arrivals and departures.

Qinetic have a pair of 'Electro-Optical Tracking Systems' up on the top of Caesars Camp. I was sat on the bike next to them when one came to life and tracked the M346 when it did a validation flight. Equal parts Cool! and disturbing watching it do it's work.

Were you wearing a PH jersey? I left Eelmoor bridge just after the Vulcan and cycled along the canal towards Fleet, if it was you, you kindly stopped to let me pass, thought I recognised the logo as I passed then realised it was a PH jersey!

I have been trying to decide whether to pay in this year and "walk the static". I'm still in two minds as to whether I will.

Regarding watching the dis[play from outside the boundary, I think I will do this on Thursday - which is the last of the full trade days. The flying display may change quite a bit from Friday on.

Hi all, moved to Fleet a month after the last one on 2012, so really looking forward to strolling along the canal and finding a nice spot overlooking the a325 end of the runway with a camping chair.

Any recommendations on good spots? .. am thinking will go on the Saturday, and possibly Thursday if I can get the day off..

My plan is to watch it from the canal end - near the bridge over the canal (Laffan's Road).

I'll probably sit somewhere inthe heathland (eelmoor tank track) at the end of the runway.

The road round the back of the airfield is going to be closed on Saturday and Sunday but I imagine bikes will be allowed through.

I'm deliberating on paying to get in, but 45 is a bit steep for me. Being in fleet imnot eligible for residents discount which is a bit unfair too since I get flights from Farnborough over my house every day of the year!
