A quick read of Wiki indicates that the film 633 Squadron was based on Operation Jericho, or maybe I read it wrong.

Look up "SS Cap Arcona".

I happened to be in the Lubeck Bay area of the Baltic coast earlier this year, and did a bit of research into the area...I wished I hadn't.
Bloody hell! eekeek

I'm surprised a film has not been made about that.

I didn't really want this thread to become a debate on 633 Squadron and its inspiration.

What worried me more was that the Martin Shaw documentary wasn't on the Virgin Watch Again facility when I went looking for it last night. Hopefully it will be up and available tonight. It's definitely on the BBC iPlayer.

Of course the Cap Arcona incident 'matters', but I think Eric posted in response to the 633 stuff, which probably doesn't ?

Correct. 633 squadron is an OK film (for its time - although there is some spectacularly bad miscasting).
Maybe we should have a best aviation related film thread (if it hasn't been done before).

I want to know why this particular operation is subject to the 100 year disclosure security.
At a guess its due to the fact it involved France resistance, probably has a bit on who they think could have been a collaborator / likely to talk.

Wack a 100 year order on it so when the speculation does come out those people are dead.
