Fantastic. I am assuming from your handle that you are some kind of pilot of the aero variety? Is this work or pleasure then?
No, not at all.....unfortunately, the user name is an old story and not even relevant these days, just can't be arsed to change it laugh

And it was very much pleasure...........if only it was work.

Did you get into the rear or belly gunner positions?
No, both positions were out of bounds on the B-17, but I was able to crawl up the rear fuselage and into the tail gunner position of the B-25.

This is the view from the B-25 tail gunner 'glasshouse' looking forward over the tailplane towards the wings. I was pretty much lying down with head lifted up to take this...... it's very confined down the end of a B-25!

Two I took about 5 years ago......

The huge and famous airship hangars at Moffett Field, California taken from the waist gunners position of a NA B-25J Mitchell smile
(the old USS Macon Hangar #1 on the left has now been stripped of it's original cladding because of contamination, and is now just a 'skeleton')

And the view from the top turret of a B-17G Flying Fortress biggrin

You lucky so and so! My hugest ambition is to get a flight in a B-17. What was it like?
Pretty cool ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMu_-NYSHGc Filmed at Airventure 2013 (Oshkosh)

I will raise you your great shot with my great shot. Reason for this is BA 787 magic windows policy. Ask why my button is not lightening the window, told that they are locked out to prevent us letting light in and waking up the other passengers. It is night time ffs. Just after the terminator can be seen and the glorious view has gone they turn all the cabin lights on and wheel out the the breakfast trolly waking everyone up banghead Then they unlock the windows.

Bring back the shutters.

Paid for those seats as well to see the terminator.

And no, it did not catch fire.

Are you sure that's what he means? I'm reading that as though 'the terminator' is some kind of landmark visible from the plane if you're sitting in the right place. Why would you need to pay for a specific seat to be able to see an in-flight movie on a plane that has screens visible from all seats?

Not exactly amazing (it's my thread so I have special dispensation) but it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I look out of the window and see one of Derby's finest.
