Hiya Pete, if I'd known you'd be there I'd have popped down.

Was it me, or was the weston display a bit shorter than I've seen before ( last year, for example).
I was there from 11am till 7pm and they were flying all day but with some quite long gaps
Sorry, I was referring to the Vulcan bit only ( as this was a thread on xh558!)

You can go and have a look around the Vulcan at Finningley. I took my dad a few weeks ago, good way to spend a couple of hours.

Amazing shot. I was there as well trying to follow that pass through the viewfinder. I'm sure I nearly fell over backwards as I spun around and it passed almost directly in front of the sun! Wish I had something half as good as that to show for my efforts.

ECM aerial mounting plate IIRC.

It's the counterpoise panel which holds the Red Shrimp antennas. Some Vulcans fitted with the Blue Steel missile had panels both sides as it was thought that the missile held beneath the bomb bay would mask some of the signal.

How do I find it on flight radar. Just down loaded the app and been randomly clicking planes.

I assume I can search for a number? Xh558 came up with nothing.

There's something freaky about the way it appears and disappears from FR24. It did so on the way to Weston, and that link just stops working. (shrug)

I've never seen it on FlightRadar 24 but I've just downloaded the XH558 app and that appears to be fine ... Vulcan's been up today and I was informed via the new app

Not quite XH558, but I had a close look at XM597 yesterday, she's looking a bit tired now, but it was fantastic to be able to stand underneath those massive wings.
