I don´t know what happened to the last picture! Doesn´t look like that on my home computer, the boat definitely hasn´t fallen off the chocks wink

No I can´t! I want to go sailing before I´m too bloody old for that too! tongue out

Thanks for the links smile But what´s with the 3.65m lengths? confused I want to start in the middle of the stern, and go right around without joints. wink
20m should do it.

It´s O.K. I´m reasonably happy with it, big improvement to what it was, but I wanted them to guide coat the primer, and longboard it.
They seem to have lathered it on in places. It should look better when it´s been nibbed off with some 1500 and compounded.
Just happy it´s finally done. (apart from the non-skid) I´ll be even happier when they´re out of the tent so I can clean up their crap, and start getting some stuff back on. smile

O.K. so the Old Girl is finally nibbed off and compounded smile

Starting to fine line tape and mask up for the non skid. Maybe the end of next week will see it on.

The sign writer is working on some fonts for the name, so should see some nice gold leaf on her bum soon too smile

I´d like to think so, but I still have below the waterline to do, the old engine bed to cut out, and fabricate a new one for the smaller Nanni iron sail.
Mount for the Aqua drive thrust bearing, and the bilges to sand and flow coat.

But it will be nice to start putting some stuff back on smile

biglaugh Not to worry, I look after an 87ft white motor yacht in a port where they unload coal for a power station, we get red rain, and lots of pollen in the spring.
Sometimes after spending three days on a wash-down, I come in the next day to find the boat looking like the German flag!

Not for long though, she´s being signed over on Tuesday.
Strange feeling after watching over the build in Taiwan for over a year, and spending 8 years of my life taking care of her.
I have a month to hand her over though, but after that who knows... A well earned rest for a few weeks I hope.

This little Gem is a reward to myself for nearly 20 years of hard graft in the private yachting industry. My retirement plan wink

Hello Mate, cheers. Not Sure what to do next to be honest. Maybe pick up some re-fit work over the winter and start networking again. I´ve been out of the loop in Palma for quite a few years now. I do need a change.

Nada. They think they can look after it and run it without crew. Good luck to them!
He´ll probably get one of those guardianage companies to "look after it" who in reality. just give it a quick wash before they come out.
It´ll look like shyte in a month.

Well, the painters have gone AWOL again. But it´s a bit too hot anyway.
In the meantime, she´s masked up ready for some of this.

Not sure which one to use, fine or course, so I need to try them, or even mix them.

Been away on a delivery the last few days, but I got a text saying it was all done.
Shot up there before going home, and I´m a happy bunny! smile

The Griptex fine was a bit too fine, and the course a bit too course. So we decided to try mixing it 50/50. Turned out bloody perfect!

The Guys even tidied up afterwards! that´s a first. Except they forgot to do the sides of the cockpit sole....

Shipwright due mid September to start making up a new toe rail, so I have to gee up the stainless Guy to get the new fairleads made up which the toe rails fit into.

The gelcoat is just resin with some pigment added. If there´s no de-lamination, just knock it back to get a good key, and blow some epoxy onto it.
You can fill and fair between coats.
Do I foresee another old boat resto thread coming on? smile

The newer Awlgrip 2000 is much better now. It can be cut and polished, making repairs much easier, unlike the old LP.
On "Svip" I used DuPont auto paint, but the hull is clear over base. DuPont base with Awlgrip 2000 clear over the top. The idea was to give a bit more protection from say, fender socks marking the hull. It can be cut and re-polished.
Gelcoat is the work of the devil. Needs constant attention, and it discolours in the sun.

you are right, 2 years is optimistic hehe although I don't have anywhere near the woodwork you have!

although something just occurred to me about your project .... You have not even started on the interior yet :b

a question though .... What's the cost of SSR and any issues for a boat outside the UK EEC that will never likely enter?

The upholstery is done. wink
Although I have a lot of sanding and flowcoating of the bilges to do.
The interior woodwork is functional, and I´m happy to leave as is, and do bits as and when.

Also engine bed to replace, and a bit of wiring. I want to keep it simple on electronics.

But there´s still a lot to do!

Yesterday I ordered some new T track. It´s August, so that will probably turn up next month.

If you log on to the DVLA web site, you can do the SSR on line. Costs about 12 quid IIRC.
