I don't think you can compare the two, the satellite was on a chaotic decaying orbit whilst an NEO would be on a well defined trajectory which combined with the Earths well defined trajectory should give the boffins plenty of data to work out an accurate impact site.

They don't get them all in view but here is something to worry about..... or not.
