I think it is fairly well known that the Tornado F3 had many shortcomings as a fighter interceptor. No doubt, the crews who fly/flew it would have done the best they could with the asset they were given but it would have been in serious trouble if it had ever had to mix it with many of its contemporaries.

Yep, once the AMRAAMs had gone so should the Tonker, but I guess they left a Mauser on 'just in case'

Photograher was a guy called Andy Keech. produced 3 books in the mid to late 70's called Skies Call #1 #2 & #3. full of fantastic images.Seriously, how was that last photo taken? just before he was shreaded by the prop!
That one was taken using a support attached to the nose that was airbrushed out(alledgedly) leaving one of the guys in the final image...
Incidently, the old and Bold from that era refer to it as the time when "Sex was safe & skydiving was dangerous"
