Hardly a surprise when the name China crops up in anything aviation related.

This made me laugh :

"because one third of the screws holding down a piece of bodywork were missing.
'It was part of the outer covering of the wing and at no point was flight safety compromised"

Great Daily Mail reporting there, with the paragraph and photo of Concorde totally unrelated to the rest of the story...

Are Air France really that bad? I've heard lots of negativity aimed at them re maintenance and of course more than one high profile crash but how do they compare in real terms to other airlines?

Ive mentioned it before on here, but I am based in the aviation industry and work with AF pilots day in and day out - I also have a no-fly Air France policy.
I'd be more worried about flying wit BA.They don't exctly have a sparkling record when it comes to maintenance issues, and that's done in the UK.

Apart from the LHR 777 (which wasnt BAs/pilots fault) im struggling to think of the last time BA injured or killed anyone. The same can not be said for AF.

I work with them daily and without turning out specifics that would get me in trouble (and in the least dramatic way possible) I simply refuse to travel with them.
BA might not have killed anyone, but there have been enough maintenance errors and close calls to cause concern.
