not even when they rolled out some real ones for Q uploads, more quietly terrifying.
I think the thread is for "amazing pics of military ordnance", rather than "pics of amazing military ordnance".

smile But by any standard yours is a particularly dull pic.

As in near Dage Nam? When was that?
No, Fake-an-Nam (NooooorFulk). I was there in 1990 and they were pretty much EOL, I was getting trained on their little brothers.

They used H202 as a propellent - the same fuel that led to the demise of the Kursk. They may be fast, but given that the fastest subs and surface vessels top out about 55-60 mph their top speed is rather pointless especially given the inherent risk of H Peroxide fuel.

Still bloody cool though.
Further proof of this can be seen in the case of HMS Explorer, a HTP powered submarine that quickly earned the nickname HMS Exploder...

It's this type of torpedo that the Iranians have reverse engineered and think that it will sink a US carrier.
Doesn't it also have a range measured in feet too?
It's pants; there's no guidance system, so you have to get so close to the target you guarantee your own demise when you fire it, and it makes such a racket they'll hear it coming without the aid of sonar. In the second world war even veteran sub commanders regularly missed targets when firing similarly dumb torpedos; how much regular practise is the Revolutionary Submarine Service getting? I'd guess not a lot.

Finding the correct apparel for launching a small bucket of instant sunshine at the 8th Guards Army, is most troublesome. Perhaps you might have some suggestions Mr Amies. wink

Clearly, a Gentlemen who wear a bespoke suit, waistcoat and tie, (unless one was dressing for dinner when it would be strictly Black Tie or Mess Dress).

I rather like the idea of a nuclear rifle grenade.

Only a short few hops in the military mind from the Genie...

yep,

20mm, 50Cal, 7.62, 5.56, .45 and a 9mm

The 50cal is huge compared to the 7.62.
