Does anyone have any experience of ownership of one of these? I've been lusting after a flybridge Lochin 40 for a long time and may be in the position to go for one within the next year and would be interested to get opinions...
To my mind semi displacement boats offer the worst of two worlds, inability to get on the plane and make fast passages and do not achieve the economy of displacement boats chugging along at 8 knots.

But, if you like the Lochin 40, go for it.

The nuts !
The 38 rolls like a pig, the 40 is a different animal, very nice.
The best models they've made are the 33 and the 40, incredibly seaworthy boats.

I used to help out on a Lochin 33 during my school holidays a good number of years ago and was when I decided that was the boat I wanted, really nice seakeeping and handling properties. And then when I first saw my first flybridge Lochin (Huntress II out of West Bay) I was completely, irreversibly sold.

I've read the arguments for and against semi-displacement, but just seems a Lochin will suit my needs spot on. Won't have the money for a few months yet (probate etc) so can't make the jump just yet but watch this space...
