Boat engines

I know next to nothing about boats but for some reason have a real fascination with boat engines.

Powerboats with a couple of blown Chevy motors, mega money outboards, 6 million horsepower diesels etc...

What are the most impressive/newest/biggest/fastest ones out there? Can one purchase a small nuclear reactor to strap on the back on one's dinghy? Could a Veyron motor be marinised to make some sort of uber jetski? Would the channel crossing be significantly faster with the addition of a couple of rockets?

Educate/inspre me oh great boatmeisters of PH.
