Just had lidls BBA burnt ends.
Very nice...
I had some of them last week - I thought there was a weird artificial smoke smell/flavour to them. Not bad enough that I'd walk past them if there was an orange sticker on them....

We’ve found that with a LOT of PG Tips in recent months. Shame we bought so many from Costco! Never again!

For anyone who likes the Lidl Chrismas treats, I picked up a few packets of Liebkuchen for 20p a paket - 6 little liebkuchen. Very nicely spiced.

Aldi loaded triple cheese fries are on my favourites now. I tried the cheeseburger ones, not to my liking.
Triple cheese is my go to sides, along with onion rings to go with the takeaway meat feast pizza.
Has anyone mentioned the hash browns in the freezer section yet ? Recommend.

Aldi burgers are very good but no way is the 'Wagu' version worth twice the price.

..the Aberdeen Angus is as good if not better.

Put into one of their brioche burger buns, lightly toasted, with some shredded gem lettuce, cheese and relish they are bloody lovely. Butter is essential in the skillet though

Are supermarkets allowed to sell things that are past the use by dates? Today i was looking at salad bags and there were so many that had expiry dates of yesterday, these werent even discounted either. Sometimes i wonder if it's because i'm going midday on a friday. if i'm lucky i might bump into someone bringing out the fresher salad bags.

Strictly speaking, no. BBE dates are questionable.

I seem to recall an article, maybe on ‘Food Unwrapped’, that bagged salads particularly can be rife with bacteria.. I would steer clear personally!

Anything used before midnight on the BBE date shown (assuming it has been stored correctly) should be safe to eat. However... a lot of fresh produce (some of which still has BBE dates) will have become inedible before this time due to spoilage caused by incorrect storage at some point in its life.

Prepared salads are a potential nightmare but most are chlorine washed, its the beansprouts that I worry about!

After I had a stem cell transplant I was seriously immunocompromised and was given a list of things to avoid. Bagged salads were number 2 on the list. Number 1 was bottled water!

Recent convert to Aldi shopping. Its definitely a lot cheaper than a lot of places. Sometimes wonder if they scan so fast they miss stuff because it ends up even cheaper than I'm expecting.

Most stuff is pretty decent quality wise. You do have to be careful picking fruit and veg as there often seems to be stuff which is on the edge which I think other supermarkets would have pulled.

Only real gripe I've found is packets of fresh soft herbs. They are packed quite wet and if you don't use them within a day or so they are black mush. Guess I could upen them and pat dry and rewrap.

Some of the wine isn't bad either and with offers can be less than a fiver a bottle.

Aldi and Lidl have the barcode on each surface of the packaging. The check out person doesn't have to look for the barcode, because whichever surface is passed over the scanner, it will activate.

Why don't the other supermarkets do the same? It isn't exactly Brain of Britain stuff, is it?
