You should try the BYRON burger chain for prices, 2 x burgers, one chicken one and a chesseburger thing, 1 x chips, 1 x onion rings and a kids meal.
1 apple juice (kids), 1 diet coke and a can of beer, £39 fuc king notes, don't get me wrong it was one of the best chicken burgers i have ever had but at those prices i wont be making it a regular occasion.

Sounds like good value to me.

In my local pub, two burgers with two pints would be over £40, no kids meal.

Byron is no more expensive than GBK and they are both a step up restaurant wise than 5 guys.

There's a Wimpy at Milford, been going for 40 years I think, cost about £7 for a QTR burger meal, made to order. Beats a lot of these hipster joints.

I find the burgers too greasy and £17 would expect a steak.

5 Guys is better than McDonalds - but it's three times the price so it had better be.

I don't like 5 guys fries - but that's a personal thing I guess. There was nothing wrong with them per se.

The burger wasn't as nice as a Whopper - IMO of course. BK gives you fresh salad and onion, bacon, mayo, ketchup etc in a Whopper so not much to choose between them on ingredients.
Shake was a proper job - I'll give them that.

So better than McDonalds - on a par with BK - and certainly worse than Byron or GBK. If it was comparable with the lower end of the market on price i'd cut them some slack - but a burger, fries and a drink for £17 is a fking rip.

5 Guys is the same price as Byron though - that's the problem with it.

I went to Five Guys recently, I was very disappointed and won't be going back, I think the BK Whopper is far superior.

Ventured into the Leeds 5G's today, amazing burger, a frankly ridiculous amount of fries thrown in, couldnt eat them all. Filled my drink cup with the shelled peanuts going out the door, they were nice too.

Ita a good job its a bit out of the way for me because I could quite easily spemd vast sums of money eating there for my Friday filth lunch. There is a MOD pizza next to the 5G in kirkatall, like that place too.

I'm not adding much to the conversation but I popped into the one in Milton Keynes this lunchtime.

£17 for a burger, regular fries and a milkshake. £17.

"Man, this will easily be the best burger I've ever had if they are charging these sorts of prices" I thought to myself as I waited for my order to get called.

It wasn't. It wasn't as good as a double whopper from BK. The milkshake was nice but overall I felt like I'd been taken for a wker, which I suppose, I had.
I went to my local one for the first time over the weekend and felt very much the same as you. It was fine but massively over-priced.

This place is also local to me and makes the Five Guys experience seem all the more underwhelming:

I went to 5G Bristol yesterday, first visit to a 5G and whilst it was ok I wasn't amazed.

The burgers were nice, toppings decent but the bun was pretty soggy after being wrapped in foil for a few minutes whilst your order is bagged up, fries pretty decent.

Bun was the worst thing for me, soggy and sticking to the top of your pallet.

If you're ever in the west coast of the US, have an in and out burger. You won't find a better chain burger anywhere. Amazing value for money as well, makes 5 guys seem like you've been robbed.

That place was discussed somewhere else. A friend of mine in the states said the same.

The yanks seem to be bringing all of their brands over here and taking us for mugs.
Look at Krispy Kreme, they sell us doughnuts for £1.50 a pop and so many idiots I know are lapping them up. In the US they charge half that cost for the same thing.
Boy they must be thinking we are dumb!!

They wont get a penny out of me, i'll stick to the glazed ones from Tesco. They are good enough from me and probably not full of carcinogenic ingredients like most American food has in it.

As I understand it, there business model is based on being close to distribution centers therefore keeping everything fresh. Hence only in the west coast.

As above though, you know if they came over here they'd mug us off and ruin it which would be a huge shame.

I had been expecting amazing things from five guys as my colleagues raved about the one in wimbledon. Went down and tried it with my wife and wasn't expecting it to just be a fast food chain where you serve yourself. Then the prices for fast food seemed stupid paying £27 for only two small burgers, one fries, a drink and especially as you serve yourself. Thought the fries were good and the burger was pretty average really. Maybe its not a lot but compared mcdonalds id get away spending less than a tenner and I've definitely been back since trying 5 guys which says it all to me. For a better burger i much prefer dip and flip down the road where you pay about the same and it is awesome - jalapeño cheese burger, cheesy chips, milkshake of the month and a gravy dipping boat, there's just nothing else quite like it.
