This for a start
I like the story behind Cristal, was tempted to get some duty free , does it taste better than normal champagne?

It doesn't taste like many champagnes I've tried. The real differentiator is the texture though. It is as light as air, very very easy to drink too fast.
but is it worth 145 quid rather than a....say 30-50 quid bottle?can you give a few tasting notes if you can remember please, cause i might be tempted to lay a bottle down for next xmas
lol i was thinking that, but if its that good i might by a bottle or 2, BUT that depends on the quality from normal stuff.
another not, I'm drinking a long island ice tea, with 2 shots of white rum, tequila, gin and vodka, and orange liquer topped up with coke [i used cherry coke] and i am just slightly drunk.

In terms of laying it down, you're missing out if you're thinking of doing this with the current release for single years rather than decade+ under good conditions. A year from now, although it will outperforming most £30 bottles, the current release won't be anywhere near its peak.
Infanticide aside, the other thing to consider is serving temperature. Super chill any decent white and you end up muting things to the extent that you again don't experience everything it has to offer.
Of course some will simply want a recognisably high end bottle of champagne to pop on whatever day they're celebrating. There's nothing wrong with this but, whilst it will be good, the wine won't be everything it could be... (not everyone is a wine geek!)

Right then, it's got a super smooth texture, and the finest foam I've seen in many a long year. It has some citrus notes, but they are very subtle, and offset by the natural vanilla notes which are barely there, but just enough to give it a balanced taste. A very slight buscuit note remains on the palette for a good few seconds after finishing as well. As has been said, you don't want it too cold, it will dull the taste. I think it's worth every penny, it's an experience. The ones I had this year were 2004 vintage, which was a nice one, but not as good as the 1996 I had last year. To be absolutely honest the 1999 Pol Roger sir Winston Churchill cuvee, which I had a couple of this year, were slightly better IMHO. But they were also 140 odd quid each .can you give a few tasting notes if you can remember please, cause i might be tempted to lay a bottle down for next xmas
