for health reasons i have been having decaf more often. Any good reccomendations for fresh decaf beans / grounds?
Have you tried Redber's Central American Decaf blend - Dark ? been getting it from there for years as wife drinks decaf moslty, cannot tell you how good it is as do not drink it, all I can say is when by mistake I made a brew for myself I instanly knew it was not my normal drink smile
ha that's a fairly lukewarm endorsement but thanks

How do the World of Warcraft servers cope with so many neckbeards going offline at once?

Thanks, just what i was looking for, do you fill the pods to the top with the coffee?
Approx 1 - 2mm from the top, allows the lid to fit nicely.

I have tried 4 or 5 decaf beans from independent roasters and they are all pretty awful so I am coming to the conclusion that it is just my taste and it's not for me.

I have 4 bags of lightly used decaf beans sitting mostly full and needing binned really. It's an expensive experiment.

Shame as I like my Moka and 9Barista but can only have 2 proper coffees a day up until early afternoon as it affects my sleep quite badly.

It might be sacrilege to suggest supermarket beans, but I use Sainsburys Columbian decaff - https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sainsb...

We've been getting Ride and Grind coffee recently. It's nice but I'd be lying if the nice tins they come in aren't the primary appeal laugh

Favourites so far have been "tesco value" and "Mr Driver".

Regarding decaf, for those who can still have some caffeine but trying to cut down.
Worth a try 2/3 decaf and the 1/3 caffeine, that is what I do for the Mrs and it does help and make it drinkable.

Out of interest, what's your go-to 'normal' bean? Is it a really punchy / dark roasted Italian-style Arabica, or something more rounded, or more on the aromatic side (Yirgacheffe?)

Assuming it's not something that'll substitute for a Claymore mine, maybe give Monsoon Estates a go - their Espresso Blend is punchy enough if you like a traditional roast, or their Sumatran Mandheling (sp?) is a bit more rounded (and pricier), otherwise their Brazilian is an innocuous medium-roast at a more sensible price point.

I have to confess that aside from the obvious lack of caffeine, I've not noticed much difference.

I tend to favour something darker and espresso focussed, albeit I don't actually have an espresso that often.

These are what I have been drinking recently:

greenbridgeorganics.co.uk/product/honduras

(I have tried several other Scottish independent roasters, and always end up going back to this one - nothing else tastes as good to me)

I want some of this just for the tin. If the coffee is drinkable, that’s just a bonus smile

Reckon the tin with all the decoration adds a fiver to the cost.

Sick of spending a fortune on Nespresso’s
At 60-70p per pod so going through the posts
Someone suggested the coffee machine below but it’s been out of stock for ages. Does anyone know anywhere else I can get it from or an alternative? I need a small one to fit in a cupboard ideally.

That's a cracking price for a Melitta, even a small one...no wonder it's out of stock.

I can only go by my research from >8 years ago - Melitta were deemed more reliable / longer-lived than Delonghi (ours has been great), Sage were a bit of a gimmick, other brands were as you'd expect. I'm told Gaggia are worth looking at now for bean-to-cup, but I've no direct experience.

Monsoon Estates near to us are a great family-owned roastery.
Just ordered some.

They seem to be Malabar fans as well as they not only roast it but use it as a base for a few of their blends.

Nicely designed website as well.
Can you please let us know how you get on with the Monsoon beans.
Beans arrived Wednesday, still a bit oily and clearly a higher roast than the Coffee Compass Monsoon Malabar beans - not as nice to the nose either.

Tried a cup just now and there is a slight bitterness to these beans so maybe I need to leave them to settle for another week before I try another cup.

My Coffee Compass Monsoon Malabar arrived a few days ago, freshly roasted with my name on the bag.
Seem nice enough, probably need a bit more resting time.

Thanks for the feedback...might have to try some Coffee Compass then to give myself another reference point.
