Captainzep... that is simply EPIC. It would have to be something amazingly incredible to top that! Awesome. clap

So the big question is, when can we all come round to your place for dinner?! wink
Thanks.

To be honest I think we'd all be best served popping around Tony21k's Brasserie just at the moment.

Trip to the fish market this morning - will be cooking something up tonight.

1kg of what you lot in Blighty would call 'king prawns' is about a fiver of your money. Lovely.

I think you'll enjoy it MC.

Amongst the many TV Chef book cash-ins, this stands out as pretty sincere, and authentic. I think best of all, a big effort has been made to replicate the street food that Rick evidently wandered past and sampled.
I think you'd like 'street food' by tom kime

if you Google it there's a link to a free ebook download.

Oilydan and myself went to the fish market this morning.

I am simple man, who likes simple food:

Lunch was these lovely tiger prawns.
Ingredients:

The packet of cigs is to show the size

Cooking:

OK, so its not on the cooker, but there you have it

Plated with buttered crusty french bread

Fecking awesomeness on a plate.

This is not my entry and both Oily and I have saomething a bit larger for the actual competition.

Its at the back of the chopping board, along with the ginger.

Looked at this photo & was scanning your ingredients and wondering what the feck that thing at the back was. When you said you been to the fish market all I could think of was a smoked eel!!

Having scrolled down to your finished photo I realised it was a baguette

If, as, and when...

I'm watching this thread with interest. Asked the Mrs to get some decent prawns and langoustine from her work neighbour (the fish market). She came home with a bag of cod and whiting instead :-(

Here we go - Paprika dan oedang (Prawn stuffed capsicums)

Ingredients:

Prep:

Serving:

Taken up to the living room as that has aircon. Currently 37C and humid. A bit hotter than expected due to the home made sambal but fantastic taste.

The prawns were roughly chopped and mixed with the rice, sambal trasi, katjap manis, garlic etc and served with the salad. yum

Fantastic. I love freshwater king prawns - much nicer than farmed tiger prawns! Well done that man! Where is "home" for you?

Well noticed - last minute change of mind. Just too hot for red so had chilled chardonnay instead.

Time to vote then...

Shall we set up a separate poll thread or just make our choices known here?

Or can a mod tun this thread into a poll for us?
