Had a couple of pints last night:

Both most acceptable as were 'The Q-Plates', a rock'n'roll covers band.

It's not just the beer, it's how it's kept, surroundings/atmosphere and mood all play a big part.

Had a pint of "Pride" @ the Old Bakery Kenilworth last night. Nectar. This guy knows how to keep beer.

Thats another Abbeydale brew, part of their humorously themed "Dr Mortons" range. Goat Flush and Santas Reindeer Fuel (or something similarly named) are 2 i've seen on my travels.

Salopians Hop Twister and Oakhams ("Oakademy" special) Haka are 2 of the most notable beers i've tried and most enjoyed here just recently.

The first draft of the beer list for my towns annual "Booze On The Ouse" festival was published the other day. Looks promising thus far i must say! -

The CAMRA anniversary means that a few extra special brews should be available with quite a few coming from several notable micro breweries. Should be good! drink

If you like your beer with a real hoppy taste you won't go far wrong with this offering. Very pleasant flavours from a brewery that never makes a bad beer.

OK I've held my powder dry for some time, however, nothing will beat a pint of this:

In my local all the time, do a search on Flowerpots beers! http://www.flowerpots.f2s.com/beers.html

They've been pretty much shunned by all those in the real ale fraternity due to the unceremonious way they shunted the previous occupants out of their onsite micro-brewery. As I understand it, they have stopped submitted their fare to local competitions as it would never be voted for. Real ale judges can bear a grudge for a while, it seems!

@ HereBeMonsters

Ah Hah! Possibly a Bowman ale drinker?

There are 2 sides to every story, from what I have heard the vitriol has come from the Bowman side and not the Pots. Suffice to say that this is now history (4/5 years ago). I enjoy both Bowman and Flowerpots ales, why let petty individual's prejudices interfere with the enjoyment of good ale.

If you genuinely feel that a business spat will affect the quality of a beer then I do not think you should be commenting on this thread!

You've somehow decided that I've said "I hate Flowerpots ales" haven't you? Read it again, and try to understand what I'm saying. Just bringing the controversy to light, and explaining why you won't see their beers as far and wide as you would perhaps expect.

As for Bowman, they are also great ales, and available in establishments closer to me. I had a couple of Swift Ones last Friday, in fact. Very nice, very hoppy.

As for Flowerpots - very much a summer venue. Great place to drive to with the roof down. Although they still insist on closing on a Sunday afternoon? Very odd.

23.30hrs Monday I tapped and vented a cask of St Austell 'Proper Job' a bit of a gamble as I haven't put any on since the end of last Summer as it is a very light coloured fully hoppy beer @ 4.5% and quite an acquired taste (too hoppy for me and very fragrant)

17.45hrs tonight Cask empty...boys it wasn't pretty...Sleepy Devon was like a pre deployment session in the NAAFI, Sharks on feeding frenzy have greater control.

The Locals and Grockles also 'tanned' one and a half '9s' of Tribute and the remains of the weekends Old Speckled Hen.

FFS, it's the middle of Feb, what will June/July and August be like when i release the topless bar Wenches hehe

Try the Wheatsheaf in Shedfield, open all day, every day, has the full range of Flowerpots ales on stillage behind the bar.

In my opinion (I know, everyone has one) the quality is better than you will ever get at the Flowerpots!

Ask for Mike, I'll treat you to a pint - and no, I'm not the landlord, just a very happy regular.

One of my favourites too. Incidentally, if that YOUR pint glass- the
glass you naturally turn to when drinking at home?

I should take a picture of "my" pint glass which I prefer too.

I have a selection of glasses. I work at the East Anglian beer festival in Bury St Edmunds and usually get a glass from there. As I've worked there for the last 10 years I'm running out of space!!

A few that I have enjoyed over the past few months. Apologies if these are not rotated correctly. Camera phone is crap. Was disappointed by Hornet, much as I wanted to like it! Enjoyed the Once Bittern and Ram Rod, while the Celt was outstanding! beer
