And this is a perfect example of why this particular topic just keeps on giving, bravo.

Perhaps we need to nominate a "poster meal" for each type of takeaway and then campaign in our local areas?
Good idea... I'd certainly be up for establishing some "minimum standards"?

As an expat returning it's always military style planning for:
1) Fish, chips and peas
2) Curry
3) "British" Chinese
4) Sunday roast in a pub
5) Full breakfast either in 'Spoons or a cafe (cafe better cos more chance of black pudding)
6) Old school cafe for sausage and mash or pie.
7) Burger van roadside eggburger.
8) Finally 2 x Boots meal deal triangular sandwich odysseys, one for the plane typically prawn, one immediately typically the mix pack.
Good kebabs are everywhere so no UK visit cravings.

Is that a continental affliction - a chunk of cucumber with fish and chips?

Is that fish and chips from poppies near brick lane by any chance?

The cucumber was imported from Europe, they (ok I) like that stuff, got some funny looks at airport security.
F&C from a chinese-F&C combo joint on the outskirts of Macclesfield after landing at Ringway, lasted 20 mins in the hire car before crave-purchase was made as knew waiting until Ashbourne was physically/mentally edgy.
Consumed them at the Cat and Fiddle admiring the mist.
Normally would have gone for a pub lunch there but the list above is strictly adhered to in order of priority.

Nice one. I've got a site on brick lane at the moment so I'm there quite frequently!

Try to avoid fridays as it gets very busy if you want to eat in. Today was fine, rock and chips with curry sauce and a beer.

Happy Days is great. Might go there for lunch today now!

Also Fish Central up north (of the City) is a favourite for Friday lunch with a few beers.

Wife is away, don't want to cook...

Indian is the obvious choice, although a Chinese would be nice. I'm torn...

Whatever I decide I'll take some pics. As she's away I won't need to justify taking them.

"I need to take a photo for PH" has never gone down well with her.

It's been a long week, working from home in the morning, fully expect my arse to look like a Japanese flag.

I'm feeling the need for some dirt, pity the mrs isn't away until next week. However, Saturday night I can sometimes convince her with a Domino's or Chinese, fingers crossed!

If she doesn't wish to partake, that's her loss.

The offer is there. She can take it or leave it.

Tell her what we said.

And then over-order and spend the rest of the night disturbing her in a semi-pissed and over-full farting and snoring mess. After a less than satisfactory shagging performance on your part with 85% wood.

hehe
